    A professional photographer will lead the tour, offering technical and creative advice on taking the perfect picture, whether you’re an avid photographer or a total beginner. Stunning locations and incredible Alaskan sights make fabulous subject matter, whether that’s migratory birds, moose or other wildlife, floatplanes, wildflowers in alpine meadows or rugged snow-capped peaks.

    Snacks including cookies and crackers, water and hot beverages will be available during the tour.


    Guests must be aged eight years or older and should bring their own camera. Comfortable, flat, walking shoes are recommended. This tour includes short hikes up and down hills with some steps and so is not recommended for those guests with limited mobility. Tripods are available for loan during the tour.<\strong>

    Enjoy a guided tour of the museum and learn about the pioneers of Alaska aviation. See their restored aircraft, discover the bush pilot roots of modern day Alaska Airlines and then take turns to fly yourself in the museum's flight simulator. The aircraft collection includes a 1928 Stearman, a 1931 American Pilgrim, 1943 PBY-5A Catalina, a 1944 Grumman Goose, a 1953 Douglas DC-6, an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737, a McDonnell Douglas/Boeing F-15 and many others.

    Return to your ship by coach and complete your Anchorage city with a drive past Lake Hood - the busiest floatplane base in the world.

Take off from Lake Hood, the world’s busiest seaplane base and depending on weather, you’ll overfly the Chugach Mountains and its secluded valleys in search of the Dall sheep that live on the steep slopes or soar over Captain James Cook’s aptly named Turnagain Arm in search of Beluga whales.

    Browse the Anchorage Museum that explores the rich history and showcases pieces from its foremost artists. The Smithsonian Arctic Studies Centre, within the museum, contains some 600 rare Alaska Native artefacts, including a Tlingit war helmet, as well as interactive touch-screen displays.

    Enjoy lunch at the Muse restaurant inside the museum before shopping for chocolates and Alaska-made souvenirs and gifts at the Alaska Wildberry Products Store. Afterwards, you’ll take a panoramic city drive to view Anchorage’s highlights before returning to the ship.

    Your tour begins as you board your deluxe coach for a scenic drive along the Seward Highway to Portage Glacier, part of the Chugach National Forest located south of Portage Lake.

    Next, you'll board the MV Ptarmigan, the only boat operating on Portage Lake, for an unforgettable one-hour cruise across iceberg-dotted Portage Lake. Cruising across Portage Lake, you'll quickly see why Portage Glacier is one of Alaska's most popular attractions. Standing just 300 yards from a relic of the Ice Age, you'll watch for fractures of ice break off the glacier and crash into the water below.

    Finish up with a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre for the opportunity to view wildlife up close.
