We ask parents and guardians to note that children under the age of 16 must not be left unaccompanied on the ship whilst the ship is in port. There is no facility offered on board to look after your children if you go ashore.
All children under the age of 16 must have an adult, 18 or above, accompanying them whilst on board.

Can I leave my children on board while I go ashore?

Cruise fares apply to children from the age of 2 to 17 years old at the time of travel.
The first two people in each cabin will be charged an adult fare, regardless of their age.
Guests aged 2 to 17 years who are travelling as a third or fourth guest in a stateroom will receive the relevant third- or fourth-person discount on the full fare stateroom price.

Do cruise fares apply to children of all ages?

We encourage all children to use our fantastic children&#39;s facilities, but we are unable to provide one-on-one support or care. If your child requires such assistance, a parent or carer will need to be present with them at all times. 
If your child has a disability and would like to take part in our activity program, please ensure you provide a full account of your child’s needs when registering your child via My Cunard. You will receive an email containing a link to the registration form around 15 days before departure.
Once you are on board, please speak with our Youth Team to arrange a chat with our Youth Manager. We can then do our best to make sure your child has a fun and safe holiday.

Do you cater for children with disabilities in the children's clubs?

To secure a place for your child or children, please register them via&nbsp;<a title="My Cunard" href="https://www.cunard.com/en-us/login/manage-booking" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer" aria-label="My Cunard">My Cunard</a>&nbsp;in advance of your holiday.&nbsp;

How do I register my child or children for the on board children’s club?

Children under 18 do not have a dress code but should adhere to the evening dress code where possible.

Is there a dress code on board?

Any passenger under the age of 18 years at the time of sailing must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over.Children aged 12 years or under must be booked into a stateroom with a guest who is 18 years or over. They should never be left alone in any stateroom and must be supervised by a parent/guardian aged 18 years or over.Children aged 13 years or over must be booked in a stateroom with a guest who is 16 years or over.For more information on sailing with Cunard as a family, please see our&nbsp;<a title="Family cruising with Cunard" href="/the-cunard-experience/families" target="_self">family hub</a>.

What is the minimum age a child can occupy a stateroom to themselves?

The minimum age for travel on our ships is 6 months. On Full World Voyages, Transatlantic Crossings and some longer voyages to exotic destinations, the minimum age is 12 months. This is due to remote destinations and the number of consecutive days at sea.&nbsp;
Children pay the applicable adult per person fare when travelling as a first or second guest.
Infants aged between 6 months and 2 years accommodated as a third or fourth guest&nbsp;in a stateroom travel free. A nominal fee may be charged for infants between the ages of 6 months and 2 years travelling where transfers, hotel stays and air travel are involved, which we will discuss with you at the time of booking.
Guests aged 2 to 17 years of age travelling as a third or fourth guest&nbsp;in a stateroom pay the full fare less the relevant third&nbsp;or fourth person discount.
Please note that children under the age of 16 are not permitted to travel in a stateroom without an accompanying passenger who is aged 16 or over.
Children aged&nbsp;six months (or 12 months as detailed above) to 23 months are classed as infants.
Children aged&nbsp;two years to 17 years are classed as children.
Those aged 18 years or over at time of travel are classed as adults.
There is no maximum age to travel.

What is the minimum age to travel?

Children are welcome to dine in any of the dining venues on board.&nbsp; A&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cunard.com/content/dam/cunard/marketing-assets/pdf/life-on-board/example-menus/childrens-menu.pdf" title="children's menu" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer" aria-label="children's menu">children's menu</a>&nbsp;is also available in each of the&nbsp;<a title="Main dining rooms" href="https://www.cunard.com/en-us/activity-types/dining#maindining" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer" aria-label="Main dining rooms">main dining rooms</a>.
Meals are not provided in the&nbsp;<a title="Children's clubs" href="https://www.cunard.com/en-us/activity-types/children" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer" aria-label="Children's clubs">children's clubs</a>, but snacks are provided in the playrooms.
If you are travelling with a child who has any&nbsp;<a title="Food allergies and dietary requirements" href="https://www.cunard.com/en-us/food-allergy-and-dietary-requirements" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer" aria-label="Food allergies and dietary requirements">food intolerances or allergies</a>&nbsp;please inform us by calling our Customer Contact Centre.&nbsp;To make sure we’re prepared to cater for you, if you have any allergies, we ask that you inform us at least 28 days before you travel. Should you require kosher or baby food, we ask for a minimum of 12 weeks’ notice.

Where can children dine?

Theatre&nbsp;- Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the Theatre during Productions Shows. Unescorted children will not be permitted to enter the Theatre.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Casino&nbsp;- Entry into the Casino is limited to guests over the age of 18, regardless of whether or not they are accompanied by a parent/guardian. (21 years whilst in US waters).
Swimming pools&nbsp;- On some ships there will be designated pools for use by adults only.&nbsp; All children must be toilet trained before using any of the pools. Swim nappies or pull up nappies are not accepted. This is due to health and safety reasons. All pools are unsupervised and children under 16 years are to be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
Whirlpools&nbsp;- The whirlpools on board are not to be used by children aged 7 and under, and children aged 8-16 must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
Gym, saunas and steam rooms&nbsp;- The minimum age for use of gym facilities including sauna and steam rooms, is 16 years of age with parental supervision or 18 years of age without supervision. Those under the age of 18 years of age should not use the weights section at all.
Nightclub&nbsp;-&nbsp;When in operation, children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the venues designated for the adult night club.
The Yacht Club (Queen Victoria and&nbsp;Queen Elizabeth)&nbsp;-&nbsp;No children are allowed entrance to this venue after the hours of&nbsp;11.00pm.
G32&nbsp;(Queen Mary 2)&nbsp;- No children are allowed entrance to this venue at all. (21 years whilst in US waters).
Other&nbsp;-&nbsp;Children may be required to have adult supervision whilst using certain rooms, further information on this can be provided when on board.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
There may be time restrictions when children are no longer allowed in certain areas such as bars after midnight. These times and locations will be notified to you once on board.

Exploring at your own pace is a wonderful, stress-free way of discovering a new destination. In larger ports, you'll find shuttle buses that deposit you in the heart of the action. Your Daily Programme includes a detailed port guide to help you plan your day ashore.

Our ships offer comfortable accommodation ranging from cozy inside staterooms to spacious suites. Every grade includes a number of cleverly designed, well appointed family rooms that can accommodate up to four people. Larger families can book adjoining or even interconnecting rooms.

The buffets offer delicious options for all tastes and ages, from early morning until late evening, and you'll find great burgers and pizzas at the pool grills during the day. Your main restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You'll find plenty of child-friendly options for breakfast - buttermilk pancakes are very popular.

On warmer days at sea, there's nothing quite like a refreshing dip and all of our ships have at least one family-friendly main swimming pool. You could also try your hand at padel or table tennis, golf putting or pickleball, depending on your ship. On sea days, your entertainment team will organize regular activities, like tennis tournaments, scavenger hunts, quizzes and more.

On Queen Mary 2, the Illuminations theater has spectacular daily shows, which are a huge hit with guests of all ages. Movies for all ages are screened regularly - consult your Daily Programme for details. The Royal Court Theater hosts dazzling musical productions every night. Most are suitable for younger children, who often have their very first theater experience on board a Cunard Queen.&nbsp;

Many of our bars and lounges are all day venues, and children are welcome in most of them until late in the evening. The Queens Room is popular with families in the evening, with children joining their parents on the dance floor. All menus offer alcohol-free drink options. Alternatively, the children's clubs are usually available until late evening. Note that a small number of venues are only suitable for adults over 18.

There are self service launderettes on board which are complimentary with washing machines, washing powder (you may bring your own personal washing powder if you wish), tumble dryers and ironing facilities which are available from around 7.30am until 9pm (subject to change).

Specialist cleaning services
Wet cleaning is a professional, aqueous cleaning process for sensitive and non-washable garments. The wet cleaning process was invented in 1991 by Kreussler &amp; Co GmbH in cooperation with Miele. Wet cleaning avoids the use of chemical solvents. Environmental groups and the United States Environmental Protection Agency have indicated that such alternative &quot;&quot;wet cleaning&quot;&quot; methods are better for the environment than chemical solvents and proponents of wet cleaning state that these methods can be used without shrinking or otherwise damaging garments that typically require dry cleaning.
We also offer slight alterations / repairs on board, for an added cost.&nbsp;

Are there laundry facilities on board?

You’re free to bring water, soft drinks, and light snacks on board our ships. You may also bring one bottle of wine or Champagne per person to enjoy in your stateroom or suite.

Can I bring food or alcohol on board?

You are welcome to bring water, soft drinks and light snacks on board, although we encourage you to take full advantage of our dining options. These include indulgent fine dining, hearty gastro fare, an informal buffet, and complimentary breakfast in bed.

Can I bring food with me on board?

It is permissible to wear such items of clothing during the daytime.
It should also be noted that some countries may have rules against this sort of attire such as Barbados where it is illegal due to this matching the uniforms worn by security services.

You may bring one bottle of wine or Champagne on board to enjoy within your stateroom.

Can you pack alcohol?

For all complimentary on board activities, your equipment is included at no extra charge. You’ll find an ever-changing programme of classes and activities to try each day, including fencing (adults 18+ only), table tennis, paddle tennis, shuffleboard, quoits, golf (chipping, putting and target nets), hoopla, darts, croquet and short mat bowls, to name but a few. Additionally, our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cunard.com/en-us/activity-types/spa/fitness">gym and facilities</a>&nbsp;provide state-of-the-art equipment,&nbsp; with all necessary requirements provided to&nbsp;you once on your ship, so there’s no need to bring anything of this nature with you.&nbsp;

Do I need to bring sports equipment or can I rent it?

No need. Your stateroom comes equipped with towels, a hairdryer, and bathrobes. We also provide Penhaligon's toiletries, so you can pack lighter.&nbsp;

Do I need to bring towels, hairdryers, or robes?

Not at all. Most evenings are smart attire - think dresses, trousers with shirts, or a jacket.&nbsp;
On&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cunard.com/en-us/the-cunard-experience/what-to-pack#evenings" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gala Evenings</a>, many guests enjoy dressing more formally, but it's entirely up to you. The most important thing is feeling comfortable and confident.&nbsp;

Do I need to dress up every evening?

No, we will provide fresh beach, pool and bathroom towels for your throughout your stay.

Do I need to pack beach towels?

Irons are available in our laundries, so you won’t need to bring an iron with you.&nbsp;Please note, you are not permitted to bring irons on board with you.

Do the rooms have an iron, or should I bring one?

During the day, guests are welcome to dress casually throughout the ship. Shorts, jeans, and relaxed attire are perfectly acceptable in all areas, though swimwear should be reserved for the open decks and the fitness centre.
From 6pm onwards, a smart attire dress code applies in most bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues. This typically includes:

<li>For women:&nbsp;cocktail dresses, skirts or tailored trousers with an elegant top</li>
<li>For men:&nbsp;collared shirts with trousers; jackets are optional but encouraged</li>
<li>Not permitted:&nbsp;jeans, shorts, or casual sportswear</li>

On&nbsp;Gala Evenings, a more formal dress code is observed in these same venues. Guests are invited to embrace the occasion with:

These dress codes help preserve the sense of occasion that makes evenings on board so special. If you prefer to dress more casually, alternative dining venues and lounges are available where the evening dress code does not apply.

Does the dress code apply to all areas of the ship?

You’ll find both self-service launderettes and specialist cleaning services on board.
The self-service launderettes are complimentary and include washing machines, washing powder (you may bring your own personal washing powder if you wish), tumble dryers and ironing facilities, which are available from around 7.30am until 9pm (subject to change).
For sensitive and non-washable garments, we offer a specialist wet cleaning service at a small charge, free from the use of chemical solvents. This method can be used for garments that typically require dry cleaning.

How does the laundry service work?

We offer both self-service launderettes and specialist cleaning services on board our ships. 
 

Self-service launderettes are complimentary and include washing machines, washing powder, tumble dryers, and ironing facilities. These are typically available from 7.30am to 9pm (times may vary). You may bring your own washing powder if preferred. 
 

For delicate or non-washable items, we offer a specialist cleaning service for a small charge. This service is better suited for garments that typically require dry cleaning.

How does the on board laundry service work?

We allow an unlimited amount of luggage on board our ships, so long as each individual bag weighs under 23kg. However, if your cruise includes a connecting flight, you will need to be mindful of the luggage restrictions enforced by your airline.&nbsp;

How many suitcases can I bring on a cruise?

This depends on your dining preferences and how many Gala Evenings are on your voyage. Formal dining restaurants, such as your assigned main dining room on board, require smart attire after 6pm, while our buffet and Golden Lion pub welcome relaxed clothing all day long, even on Gala Evenings. 
 

Most seven-night cruises include one to three themed Gala Evenings. You can discover your themes in advance by logging in to your voyage calendar in My Cunard, giving you a helpful guide on the colours and styles to pack. On longer cruises, you can use our on board laundry service to reduce the number of outfits you need to pack.

How many suits/dresses will I need to pack?

It really depends on how often you’d like to dine out formally each night. We encourage smart attire in formal dining restaurants in the evenings, but for buffet dining and in our Golden Lion pub, no formal dress code applies.&nbsp;On Gala evenings, of which there are usually two or three per seven-night cruise, we ask that you dress to impress, so do bear this in mind when packing; you may also want to dress for the theme of the evening, which will be communicated before you sail. You can take advantage of our full laundry service on board, which may help to reduce the number of formal evening options you bring on longer cruises.&nbsp;

How many suits / dresses will I need?

This will depend on how much you plan to use the pool and spa facilities, but in general, we would recommend packing two or three swimsuits.

How many swimsuits / bathing suits will I need?

You are welcome to bring entertainment devices such as laptops, tablets and music players on board. Please also pack headphones, if you wish to use these in public areas of the ship.
Heated hair stylers, electronic shavers and tabletop fans can be used within your stateroom only. We provide hair dryers in all staterooms, so there’s no need to bring one with you.
Extension leads aren’t permitted on board, unless with essential medical equipment (e.g. CPAP and nebuliser machines). These will be checked for electrical safety along with your medical equipment, prior to sailing.

What electronics can I bring?

One of the real pleasures of our ships is the balance between being relaxed and free to dress as you please during the day, and the chance to sparkle in the evenings, whether dressing for dinner or the extra glamour of Gala Evenings.
From 6pm, the style goes up. Every night on board, we ask that you wear smart attire in most of our bars, restaurants and entertainment venues.

What is the dress code on Cunard ships?

Even in summer, the weather can be changeable in Norway, so we recommend packing some warm layers no matter what time of year your voyage sails. Alongside jumpers and coats, other Norway packing essentials include:

<li>Comfortable walking shoes</li>
<li>Hiking shoes (if your itinerary includes nature excursions)</li>
<li>A lightweight rain jacket, umbrella, or warm jacket</li>
<li>A rucksack or tote bag for carrying water and other essentials during port visits</li>
<li>Your camera and charger</li>
</ul>
Tip: If you are an avid hiker, we recommend packing at least two pairs of walking shoes, so you can alternate between them during your cruise.

What should I pack for shore days in Norway?

Cunard’s on board accommodation is among the most spacious at sea. Each stateroom is equipped with wardrobe hanging space and a safe for your valuables, as well as drawers for your clothes and accessories. What storage space is available in cabins / staterooms?

Though it largely depends on your destination of choice (see our destination packing guides above), we suggest bringing the following for a comfortable day on shore.
