Your tour begins with a drive up to Monte Urpinu. The view from here embraces the city and the harbour on one side and the saltworks and Poetto Beach on the other.
A visit to the Santa-Maria Cathedral will show you a combination of Pisan, Aragonese and Baroque features. Four lions guard the entrance and the inside Baroque decoration consists of multi-coloured marble and fine sculptures.
Afterwards, you’ll have time to visit the National Archaeological Museum. This museum traces the history of Sardinia, with exhibits from the Neolithic, Phoenician and Roman periods. Look out for the fascinating statuettes from the Bronze Age, as well as jewellery, coloured glass heads and terracotta votive statuettes found at sites around Cagliari.
After your visit to the museum, you’ll have some free time in Via Roma to purchase a coffee or ice cream and browse for souvenirs of your visit to Sardinia.
