Muscat’s stunning Grand Mosque is an outstanding piece of Islamic architecture and a pure delight to explore. Covering an area of over one million square feet, the mosque can accommodate up to 20,000 worshippers at a time.

Pose for a photo in front of the Sultan's Palace, which is flanked by two Portuguese forts, before continuing to the magnificent Bait Al Zubair Museum. Here you can stroll through the country’s colourful history, with exhibitions including traditional costumes, jewellery, and weapons.

Then sharpen your haggling skills at the Muttrah Souk, which is crammed with stalls selling traditional Omani items such as dallah (bronze coffee pots), exotic spices, and frankincense.
