    Your waterjet-driven catamaran will cruise through Sitka Sound, home to the greatest variety of wildlife in southeast Alaska, as a naturalist on board explains the workings of this beautiful ecosystem. Observe sea otters and learn about their recovery following near extinction at the hands of Russian fur hunters in the early 1800s. You may also encounter whales, sea lions, porpoises and harbour seals, scan the shore for brown bears and blacktail deer, or look for bald eagles overhead.

    Discover a cycling tour with a difference through Alaska’s breathtaking scenery.

    Sitka Pedal & Pub Crawl

    Take to the saddle on this special 15-person bicycle, as your two-hour excursion takes you past historic sites including the Russian Orthodox Cathedral. You’ll then call at a trio of traditional watering holes, including the oldest pub in town, Ernie’s Old Time Saloon.

    You’ll also pedal over to the maritime themed Pioneer Bar, known affectionately as the P Bar, and the Bayview Pub, which offers excellent views over the town.

    The tour includes two local beers but you can purchase up to two additional drinks, snacks and souvenirs.

    Set off on an active discovery across Sitka’s remote landscapes.

    Tongass Rainforest Hike

    During a two-and-a-half-hour hike, ascend the meandering Starrigavan Muskeg Trail through a hemlock forest, as your guide points out the local flora and fauna. Hike to the glistening waters of Starrigavan Creek where thousands of salmon come to spawn annually.

    As you continue along the Mosquito Loop Trail, you’ll reach higher ground to discover breathtaking mountain views, and wander the world’s largest temperate rainforest carpeted with mosses and ferns.

    Then, descend to the beach for a tidal zone walk.

    Channel your inner adventurer with this half-day sportfishing adventure in the rich waters of Sitka Sound.

    Salmon Sportsfishing

    Cruise to fishing grounds carefully selected by a captain with at least ten years of fishing experience. All your equipment is provided, which friendly crew members will help set you up.

    Then, cast out your line and spend several serene hours fishing the pristine waters from your comfortable, heated cabin cruiser. It’s an idyllic spot to appreciate the awe-inspiring beauty of the Alaskan landscape, as you try to land the king, silver, chum and pink salmon teeming in the waters around you.

    This tour operates by boat. This tour requires some walking down a variable sloped ramp that can have a steep slope depending on the tides and guests must be able to embark/disembark the boat. Rubber-soled or deck shoes must be worn on the boat and guests are advised to dress warmly in layers. Boats will carry a maximum of six guests. All safety equipment and fishing gear is provided. Salmon fishing is performed via trolling. When trolling two or four lines are fishing off downriggers while the boat is underway and hooked fish are played on a rotational basis. Alaska State law requires a fishing license be purchased for $25 per person and an additional $15 is required for a King Salmon Stamp, to be paid directly to the boat captain in cash. You may catch and release, however, fishing processing (vacuum packing and shipment to addresses within continental USA) is available for an additional charge (via credit card). The catching of fish is not guaranteed.
