Covid-19 – Flexible Booking Terms.

In this increasingly uncertain environment, we understand that you may well appreciate added flexibility. To that end, we’ve made a number of recent enhancements to our cancellation and transfer policies.

Please note that the following Flexible Booking Terms are only applicable to those guests residing in the UK and the rest of Europe.

Existing bookings impacted by our temporary pause in operations.

For bookings departing on or before 31 July 2020 on Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, and on or before 8 September 2020 on Queen Elizabeth.

For guests impacted by our temporary pause in operations, we are offering a Future Cruise Credit of 125%. Your Future Cruise Credit can be used for a new booking, to upgrade an existing booking, or to add an additional stateroom for friends or family, to a booking in your name. Future Cruise Credits can be redeemed on any Cunard voyage sailing before 31 March 2022 and must be used in full by 31 December 2021.

Existing bookings departing after 31 July 2020 and before 31 August 2020 on Queen Mary 2 or Queen Victoria.

If you’re sailing on Queen Mary 2 or Queen Victoria, after 31 July and before 31 August 2020 and you’d like to keep your booking, we’d like to offer you some on board spending money to enhance your holiday. This will be credited to your on board account and is redeemable against drinks, spa treatments, alternative dining and shore experiences booked on board. The amount you’ll receive, per stateroom, is dependent on the number of nights you’ll be sailing with us.

  • For voyages of 1-3 nights duration: $150
  • For voyages of 4-7 nights duration: $300
  • For voyages of 8-14 nights duration: $600
  • For voyages of 15+ nights duration: $900


Your on board spending money will be added to your account ahead of sailing and you’ll receive an updated booking confirmation to this effect.

Please note, you will be asked to confirm you have read the latest government travel guidance before you sail.

Transferring your booking.

To give our guests added reassurance in these unsettling times, we’ve temporarily removed restrictions on our Transfer Policy.

This means that guests sailing before 31 August 2020, can now:

  • Transfer your booking to any Cunard voyage currently on sale (and not just to those within the next 12 months).
  • Transfer your booking to a voyage of higher or lower value (and not just of a higher value, as is usually the case).
  • Transfer your booking an unlimited number of times (and not just once).
  • Transfer your bookings free of charge, as we will waive the current £100 administration charge for each transfer made.


Transfers may be made up to 48 hours before departure. Guests who booked directly with Cunard (either online or over the phone) can use the link below. Those who booked via a travel agent should contact their travel agent.

Cancelling your voyage - updated 19 March 2020.

Should you wish to cancel your holiday, our cancellation policy gives you ultimate flexibility. Here’s a guide to what you need to know:

  • If you are booked on a Cunard voyage sailing before 31 August 2020, you may now cancel up to 48 hours prior to departure
  • Cancelled bookings, within 90 days of departure and who have paid their balance in full , will receive a 110% Future Cruise Credit (FCC)– see the table below for further details.
  • Your FCC is redeemable against bookings made up to (and including) 31 December 2021, for voyages sailing until 31 March 2022.
  • Alternatively, your FCC may also be used to add an additional stateroom to an existing booking or to upgrade an existing booking.

The above policy applies to all of our guests, including those aged 70 or over, or with an underlying health condition.

 If you do not wish to take advantage of this New Temporary Policy you may cancel under the terms of our original policy.

This new policy supersedes any information you may have received before the 19 March 2020. If you had already submitted a transfer or cancellation based on the previous policy before 19 March, we will honour this and we will be in touch with confirmation in due course.

To cancel your booking and request a refund (minus cancellation fees) please call our contact centre on 0345 355 0300. Please be aware that we are experiencing a particularly high volume of calls at the moment.

Transferring your booking.

If you are sailing after 31 August 2020 then you can take advantage of our new flexible transfer policy (in place until 31 August 2020), but we will require notice prior to the balance due date.

This means that guests, who have a booking on a Cunard Fare or Early Saver fare, sailing after 31 August 2020, can now:

  • Transfer your booking to any Cunard voyage currently on sale (and not just to those within the next 12 months).
  • Transfer your booking to a voyage of higher or lower value (and not just of a higher value, as is usually the case).
  • Transfer your booking an unlimited number of times (and not just once).
  • Transfer your bookings free of charge, as we will waive the current £100 administration charge for each transfer made.
