New to cruising
Whether you are new to Cunard, or new to cruising in general, this handy guide will explain what to expect when you set sail on a Cunard Queen for the first time.
The Essential Internet plan includes
This plan is available for US$22 per day if purchased for the whole voyage.
Alternatively, you can purchase short-term access on board for US$28 per 24 hours.
The Premium Internet plan includes
This plan is available for US$30 per day if purchased for the whole voyage.
Alternatively, you can purchase short-term access on board for US$44 per 24 hours.
Once on board, you’ll be able to access My Voyage, our complimentary digital planner, from any smart device by joining the ship’s Wi-Fi. My Voyage allows you to browse and book your ship’s restaurants, select entertainment on board, and join a virtual queue (giving you more time to relax while we prepare your table).
Purchase of a Wi-Fi package is not required for access to My Voyage: it is available for all guests to use, as long as they have a compatible smart device. Find out more with our online guide to My Voyage, and with the material provided in your stateroom on board.
See below for frequently asked questions around on board internet and phone usage, or for other topics select 'FAQs' at the top of this page.
We are pleased to offer two plans under our Cunard Guest Wi-Fi service:
Our Essential and Premium internet plans are available on all our ships.
Full voyage plans can be purchased in advance of your sailing or once on board. 24-hour plans can be purchased once on board; these have higher prices per day than full voyage plans. Discounts are available for multi-device plans and plans on voyages of 50 nights or more in duration.
Purchasing an internet plan ahead of your voyage
The easiest way to purchase a full voyage plan is to book online via the My Cunard portal in advance of your sailing.
Please note: Cunard World Club members with complimentary internet credits can only book internet plans on board, as My Cunard is currently unable to process bookings with credits; the same prices quoted on My Cunard will apply on board.
Purchasing an internet plan on board
To purchase an internet plan on board, connect your device to the Guest Wi-Fi, then open "internet.cunard.com" in the browser and follow the registration instructions. Once registered, you can select your preferred internet plan. Purchases will be charged to your on board account.
Alternatively, connect your device to our My Voyage on board digital planner and select the 'internet purchase' option. Visit the on board library (or ConneXions if you are sailing on Queen Mary 2) for assistance with connecting.
On our ships, you can connect to the Wi-Fi with almost any internet-enabled device.
Alternatively, you can browse our free Cunard websites and our on board planner, My Voyage.
Multiple devices can use one internet plan, but you can only connect one device to the Guest Wi-Fi at a time. If you want to connect more than one device simultaneously, you can purchase discounted internet plans for additional devices.
To switch to using your internet plan on a new device, connect the new device to the Guest Wi-Fi network, enter "login.com" in your browser and then input your username and password. You should then be able to 'Disconnect other device' and start browsing on the new device.
You can also disconnect a device anytime by typing "logout.com" in your web browser's address bar.
The Guest Wi-Fi on board your voyage utilises internet signals that are wirelessly transmitted thousands of miles via satellite to and from your ship, wherever it is in the world.
Due to the nature of the satellite transmission, the Wi-Fi may sometimes be slower at sea when compared to terrestrial connectivity. Geographical location, weather and the number of users using the system can have an impact on connectivity speed.
Low earth orbit (LEO) is a designation for communication satellites which orbit extends from approximately 300 miles above the earth’s surface up to an altitude of about 1,491 miles.
Benefits of LEO is that as the satellites are closer to the earth the information has less distance to travel which means data transfer speeds are faster than Geostationary (GEO).
Due to locations of LEO satellites, there is less worry of interference from structural or land mass blockage, as well as other common weather interference, meaning a more stable service.
No; the Guest Wi-Fi service does not extend beyond the ship’s immediate location, but Wi-Fi should be available almost everywhere whilst you are on board.
Whilst on shore, you will have to use your device’s cellular data if you wish to access the internet. Please check with your network carrier for details of your data roaming capability and charges.
No, whilst connected to the Guest Wi-Fi, your device should not be incurring any cellular data costs from your phone carrier.
However, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are not using cell phone signal or data. To avoid roaming charges on board, please turn off cellular data in your device settings or activate airplane mode (you may need to re-activate your device’s Wi-Fi afterward).
You will still be charged by your phone carrier for any voice calls or text messages you make, regardless of whether you are connected to the ship’s Wi-Fi.
We recommend confirming your data roaming capability and charges in advance of your voyage. Cunard is not responsible for charges incurred via your network carrier.
No. My Voyage is free to use and does not require you to purchase an internet package.
To avoid roaming charges while at sea, please either turn off cellular data or switch your device to flight mode, then connect your device to the ship's Wi-Fi network (Cunard Guest Wi-Fi).
Once connected to the Wi-Fi, open your internet browser and visit "myvoyage.cunard.com" or scan the QR code on the guidance in your stateroom.
