Barcelona terminals and transport

Of the six terminals on Barcelona's Adossat Quay, Cunard Queens usually dock in Terminal D, also known as Palacruceros. With an unbeatable terrace overlooking the sea, this terminal is the perfect setting for the start of your voyage.

There are porters to provide assistance to those who need it, plenty of bathrooms, and Wi-Fi. You’ll also find ample seating, bars and restaurants, and some children’s play areas.

Barcelona’s airport, Barcelona-El Prat Airport, is roughly 15km/10 miles from the city centre and the cruise port. The simplest and quickest way to travel between the two is to pick up a taxi outside the airport - the journey will take around half an hour and fares are fixed.

Alternatively, you could choose the public metro and bus service. Take the metro Line 9 at the airport, and transfer to Line 3 at Zona Universitaria. Then get off at Drassanes station, at the end of La Rambla.

From here, it's a five minute walk to the cruise shuttle bus stop. At the bottom of La Rambla, turn right at the Monument a Colom roundabout, taking the second exit on to Passeig Josep Carner. After 200 metres, you will reach the roundabout at Plaça de Les Drassanes. Turn left here, heading for the twin roads. lined with trees, which lead to the World Trade Centre. You'll find the cruise bus stops along these roads. Look for a bus named T3/PortBus or Cruise Bus, which comes every 15 minutes or so. One way or return tickets cost a few Euros.

By bus, take the A1 from the airport to Plaça d'Espanya, then walk about 200 metres to Avenida del Para-lel (the second exit from the roundabout). From the Pl Espanya - Paral·lel bus stop, take the D20 to Les Drassanes. When you get off the bus, you'll be on Passeig Josep Carner - follow the directions above to reach the cruise bus stop.

If you plan on traveling to Barcelona by train, Barcelona's central station is Barcelona-Sants, served by trains from across Spain and beyond. It is situated approximately 4 miles/6km from the cruise terminal.

You can reach the cruise terminal by taxi, which takes 10-15 minutes, or by public transport. If using public transport, take the L3 metro line from Sants Estació to Les Drassanes, then walk to the cruise bus stop following the directions under 'Flying / Airports'.

Barcelona follows a similar weather pattern to Europe, with July and August being the hottest months and December and January being the coldest. Temperatures can easily reach late 75°F or early 90°F in summer (20-30°C). The months either side of summer, April-May and September-October, are generally considered the most pleasant times to visit. You’ll find the temperatures milder than in June, July, and August, yet still with plenty of warmth and sunshine.

The Spanish generally eat late, around 2pm for lunch and 9pm for dinner, so expect restaurants and bars to be busiest at these times.

One of the best value ways to enjoy a sit-down meal at lunchtime is to opt for the ‘menu del dia’ or menu of the day. Offered in many Barcelona restaurants, this lunchtime deal typically includes two or three courses served with bread and a drink for a reasonable fixed price.
