Champagne
Champagne 'La Cuvée', Laurent Perrier, Tours-sur-Marne, France
La Cuvée is Laurent-Perrier’s signature champagne, defining the House style with its characteristic freshness, purity and elegance. With a minimum of 50% Chardonnay and four years of ageing in the cellars, La Cuvée is delicate yet complex, with crisp notes of citrus fruit and white flowers and great length on the finish.
White wine
Riesling Grand Cru, Domaines Schlumberger, Saering, Alsace, France
Vibrant, mineral-etched Riesling with intense citrus—lemon zest, yuzu, star fruit—layered with white flowers, coconut milk and fresh ginger spice. Slender, incisive palate with fine pearling, firm mineral bitterness and a long, racy finish. Youthful, structured and built to evolve. Ideal with oysters, sashimi, Thai cuisine or tangy goat cheese.
Chardonnay 'Montagny 1er Cru Les Coeres', Domaine Albert Sounit, Burgundy, France
This elegant Montagny is made from hand-picked grapes selected by Domaine Albert Sounit, a long-established winery in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness to ensure the highest quality of wine. The mix of marl and limestone soils gives rise to the mineral backbone of the wine. Despite some vinification in oak, the influence on the aroma is almost absent, instead adding to the wine's structure and texture.
Chardonnay 'Mâcon-Verzé', Domaines Leflaive, Burgundy, France
This wine truly lives up to its title as “the least expensive fine wine in the world.” It displays a subtle gold colour and offers a nose of piercingly pure, creamy, and citrusy fruit. On the palate, it’s fresh with supple, clean, buttery flavours, showcasing a lovely balance and impressive length.
Savagnin, 'Ouillé', Domaine Du Pelican, Arbois, Jura, France
After mistaking a Jura Chardonnay for Meursault in a blind tasting, Guillaume d’Angerville of Domaine Marquis d’Angerville in Volnay founded Domaine du Pélican in 2012. The 15-hectare estate grows Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard on Jurassic, multicoloured marls, yielding pure, precise wines layered with savoury depth and complexity.
Sémillon, 'Certezas', Michelini i Mufatto, Tupungato, Argentina
Michelini i Mufatto is run by Gerardo Michelini, Andrea Mufatto, and their son Manuel. Founded in 2016, the winery in La Cautiva, Gualtallary crafts elegant, sensuous wines from high-altitude, calcium-rich soils, producing mineral-driven wines with purity, tension, and finesse. This 100% Semillon, from pre-phylloxera, ungrafted bush vines, planted in 1891 (130-year-old at the time of picking), is hand-harvested early in the morning to retain the grapes' freshness. Voluptuous, with an exotic accent and subtle sweet spices, this wine remains supremely elegant.
Sémillon, 'Alberico' Bianco, Tenuta Principe Alberico, Lazio, Italy
On the Appian Way, this striking estate was inherited in 1946 by Alberico Boncompagni Ludovisi. Eccentric yet devoted, he built a cult reputation, selling wines sight unseen. Before his death in 2005, he uprooted all but eight rows of vines. His granddaughter, Alessia Antinori, has since replanted, reviving the Lazio property to produce affordable organic whites and reds. Alberico takes the idea of 'small' to the extreme with only a couple of thousand cases (of three) produced each year, destined for the tables of a lucky few.
Chardonnay 'Pernand-Vergelesses' Blanc, Domaine Jean-Baptiste Boudier, Burgundy, France
Domaine Jean-Baptiste Boudier is a young estate in Pernand-Vergelesses, as Jean-Baptiste released his first solo vintage in 2015 and fully took over the family domaine in 2017. He farms 6.5 hectares of vines around the hill of Corton, with holdings in Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Savigny-lès-Beaune, crafting wines that reflect the character of these renowned Burgundy communes.
Chardonnay, Cakebread Cellars, Napa Valley, California, USA
Cakebread Cellars was founded after Jack Cakebread fell in love with Napa Valley and bought his friends’ land. The first vintage, just 157 cases, was sold in 1973 to a single customer. Now an internationally distributed winery, it remains family run, with seven Cakebreads involved. The estate also champions Californian wine and local produce, hosting culinary events and seminars focused on food, wine, and healthy living.
Sancerre ‘Grande Cuvée’, Comte Lafond, Domaines de Ladoucette, Centre Loire, France
Arguably the finest Sancerre - the purest essence of Sauvignon Blanc. A wine to be enjoyed with the grandest dishes or simply slowly savoured.
Red wine
Brunello di Montalcino, Talenti, Tuscany, Italy
A selection of 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in estate-owned vineyards located on the south-easterly and south-westerly slopes of Montalcino. The wine ages for at least 24 months in 500-litre French oak tonneaux and 15/25-Hl Slavonian oak barrels. The wine has a deep ruby red colour with garnet highlights and a broad, slightly spicy bouquet. On the palate, it is full, intense, smooth, and velvety, with sweet, elegant tannins.
Cabernet Sauvignon, 'The Coppermine Road', d`Arenberg, McLaren Vale, South Australia
Coppermine Road runs parallel to d’Arenberg’s very best Cabernet vineyard in McLaren Vale. This benchmark Cabernet Sauvignon is grown from an almost-extinct clone and bursts with aromas of crème de cassis, mulberry, red cherry, freshly ground coffee, dark chocolate, and subtle smoked meat. The palate is vibrant and intense, with fine tannins, balanced acidity, and an elegantly long, savoury finish, laced with violet and blackcurrant leaf nuances.
Quinta da Leda, Casa Ferreirinha, Douro, Portugal
The beautiful Quinta da Leda is Casa Ferreirinha’s flagship estate, located close to the border with Spain, in the far east of the Douro Superior. The wine is a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cão and Sousão grapes, planted on rolling hills and is a complex patchwork of plots with different aspects and microclimates, each matched to a specific grape variety. Full-bodied on the palate, with ripe, velvety tannins from a long, gentle maceration, the wine has intense fruit flavours, spicier notes, and subtle floral notes. Complex but approachable with great elegance.
'Psi', Bodegas y Viñedos Alnardo, Ribera del Duero, Spain
PSI stands for Peter Sisseck, the Greek letter Ψ symbolising a bush vine. Since 2007, the project has helped save Ribera del Duero’s old bush vines, whose low yields made them unviable. By paying well above market rates, Peter encourages growers to keep them. Based in Aranda de Duero, Bodegas & Viñedos Alnardo now owns 30 hectares, with over 600 parcels from 20+ villages contributing to PSI’s 150 hectares in total.
Malbec 'La Verdad', Buscado Vivo o Muerto, Tupungato, Mendoza, Argentina
Buscado Vivo o Muerto, from Mil Suelos, explores lost vineyards in the Uco Valley. Led by viticulturist Alejandro Sejanovich, the team works with remote growers. Wines are tiny-lot, plot-specific microvinifications on soils from volcanic to calcareous, producing distinctive, detailed wines with a true sense of place, rather like in Burgundy.
Merlot, Chateau Lagrange a Pomerol, Bordeaux, France
Located on Pomerol’s northern plateau, Château Lagrange was bought in 1953 by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix from M. Pecresse. Planted on clay soils, Merlot thrives here. Hand-harvested grapes are vinified in concrete tanks and aged in oak. The wines are supple, round, fruit-driven, and approachable young, reflecting Pomerol’s lighter, elegant style.
Merlot 'L'Aurage', Cotes De Castillon, Bordeaux, France
Situated in Castillon, Côtes de Bordeaux, on an extension of Saint-Émilion’s limestone-clay slopes, L’Aurage is owned by Louis Mitjavile, who trained with his father, François, at Tertre Roteboeuf and Roc de Cambes. He and his wife, Caroline, purchased the 20-hectare estate in 2007. Planted mostly to Merlot (95%) with some Cabernet Franc, L’Aurage is a richly textured, seductive wine offering outstanding Bordeaux value.
Amarone della Valpolicella, Villa Borghetti, Veneto, Italy
Villa Borghetti is a 17th-century villa set among vineyards in Valgatara, within the Valpolicella Classica region, around 12km from Verona. Shaped by the Lessini Mountains, Dolomites, and Lake Garda, the area offers a mild climate and mineral-rich soils ideal for grape growing.
Made from 65% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 10% Negrara, this Amarone uses hand-harvested grapes dried in wooden crates for four months to concentrate sugars. After 30 days’ fermentation, around 70% is aged in oak barrels, with the rest in larger casks for malolactic fermentation. The wine matures in wood for 16 months, followed by bottle ageing before release.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Grand Veneur, Alain Jaume, Rhône, France
A labour of love for two of the world's great Riesling producers, where old and new philosophies blend to create exceptional Wines. Dr Loosen Estate of Germany and Chateau Ste Michelle of Washington state. Since 1999, a fine Riesling has been crafted from Washington grapes. To preserve flavour intensity, grapes were harvested at night, when the vineyard temperature is lowest. Grapes went directly to press. Aged for 10 months in 100% stainless steel to heighten the vibrant flavours in the wine.
