Travel requirement FAQs

All guests are required to have a valid passport in order to travel.

Guests can only board and travel to EU or Schengen area countries if their passport was issued less than 10 years from date of embarkation.

Your passport must have at least three months left before the date of expiration when you disembark (regardless of whether or not the passport has an extension period).

For cruises that sail outside the EU or Schengen area, in line with the requirements of many of these countries, guests are required to have six months’ validity left on their passport from the date of final disembarkation.

No. A passport is required for all voyages, and you will not be able to embark your ship without a passport.

If you’re travelling to the USA, and are a national of a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) country, you may enter the USA without a visa after completing an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA).

British passport holders who travel to Canada by air will need an eTA - an Electronic Travel Authorisation issued by the Government of Canada. 

From mid-2026, British passport holders will need an ETIAS electronic travel authorisation to travel to the EU.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in possession of all travel documents required for your voyage. If you do not possess the proper documentation, you may be prevented from boarding your flight or ship or from entering a country.

Currently, there are no visa requirements for British guests visiting EU ports, however these are set to change when ETIAS travel authorisation is introduced.

The current time frame for this new regulation to come into effect is towards the end of 2026. For any guests sailing to the EU, further information will be communicated as it becomes available.

From the latter half of 2026, British nationals travelling to the EU will be required to obtain an ETIAS prior to sailing for all itineraries that include an EU port.

For UK passport holders taking a Caribbean voyage that does not call in the USA or Canada, no visa or waiver is required.

If your ship is docking at any port in the USA or Canada, you will be required to complete an ESTA application for a visa waiver in advance of your voyage.

Yes, a valid UK passport is needed for a Caribbean cruise.

Your passport must have more than six months’ validity remaining for the duration of your voyage. If it doesn’t, you will need to renew your passport in time for your voyage.
