British passport holders only require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) if they are arriving in Canada by air.

All guests arriving by sea as a port of call are classified as &quot;in transit&quot; and do not require a visa. However, if you are embarking or disembarking in Cape Verde (joining or leaving the ship by air), you must pay the Airport Security Tax (TSA) and obtain a visa.

ETIAS (EU travel)
In late 2026, British nationals travelling to the EU will be required to obtain an ETIAS travel authorisation prior to sailing with Cunard for all itineraries that include an EU port.
This travel authorisation is a new EU regulation and will be proactively enforced. As with all visa and passport requirements, applying for the ETIAS travel authorisation is the responsibility of the travelling guest.
No action is required from travellers at this point. The current time frame for this new regulation to come into effect is the last quarter of 2026. For any guests sailing to the EU, further information will be communicated as it becomes available.&nbsp;

All guests travelling to Indonesia are required to obtain an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) before entry. This applies to all guests, whether you intend to go ashore or stay on board while the ship is in port.

Most international travellers (Visa Waiver nationals) must obtain an approved New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before they sail. This is valid for two years and allows for multiple entries.

Visas are not required for short stays, but South Africa strictly enforces passport and documentation rules, particularly for families.

<li style="text-align: left;">Solo Parents: If a child is travelling with only one parent, you must also provide legal consent from the non-travelling parent (such as a Parental Consent Affidavit, court order, or death certificate)</li>

Guests visiting Turkey as a port of call do not require a visa. However, if you are joining or leaving the ship in Turkey (embarking or disembarking), an e-visa is mandatory.

ESTA (United States of America)
International travellers, who are nationals of Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries, may enter the USA without a visa after completing an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
You may check to see if you are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) by visiting <a href="https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/">https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/</a>. Some of the conditions for entry into the VWP are listed below, but if you do not hold a full British Citizen passport or a passport from another country eligible for the VWP, your situation may be different and you should check to ensure you have the correct documentation for your holiday.&nbsp;
Obtaining ESTA approval, for most travellers, will be simple and easy.
A third party, such as a relative or Travel Agent, is permitted to submit an ESTA application on behalf of a VWP traveller. &nbsp;All payments must be made directly to the official Department of Homeland Security ESTA website above using a credit card or debit card. Please do not use any other website as they may charge you a higher fee for the same service.
Please note a biometric passport is required when applying for an ESTA. Kindly present at check-in a copy of your ESTA confirmation as evidence for Immigration purposes. Please ensure the information on your ESTA confirmation matches your passport information.
British Subject* passport holders are required to obtain a full US visa prior to travel. &nbsp;

Am I responsible for walking and feeding my pet on board?

Our menus only highlight food options that are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. They will not highlight all 14 major allergens.
When you dine in the main dining restaurant, you will be given the next day’s menus showing you your available choices. The waiter can then take your pre-order with your dining choices for the next day.
In the buffet restaurants on board, there will always be a crew member on hand to advise regarding allergens and there is signage above the serving stations when food contains allergens.
We do not detail allergies within drinks; therefore, this should be discussed on board when meeting with the Food &amp; Beverage team. You should also discuss this with the waiter when ordering drinks.

Most Shore Experiences have prices for children, although some may have alternative ages due to age restrictions, for example on snorkelling tours. Queens Grill Suites include a complimentary in-suite mini-bar, stocked with a selection of spirits or wine alongside unlimited soft drinks, as well as complimentary water. Are service charges included in my cruise fare?

Some of our ‘standard’ Shore Experiences aren’t suitable for everybody due to their physical nature. However, some wheelchair users and guests with reduced mobility might feel confident they can join in certain experiences. We also offer a selection of accessible Shore Experiences which are specially designed for guests with reduced mobility.
‘Standard’ shore experiences
We give you an idea of the physicality and types of terrain you’ll encounter on each shore experience within its description. However, we don’t recommend particular ‘standard’ experiences for wheelchair users or guests with reduced mobility because we understand that everyone has different abilities.
If your mobility is limited but you’re able to board a coach, the most suitable ‘standard’ shore experiences for you will likely be those with the 'low' activity symbol. These are often titled 'Panoramic', e.g. Panoramic Rome.
Wheelchair and scooter users have the same options as all our other guests:

<li>Go on shore independently.</li>
<li>Take a taxi (the shore experiences team on board can help arrange this).</li>
<li>Join a shore experience. However, we recommend that you consider the amount and type of movement involved, which is indicated in each shore experience’s description.</li>
<li>Arrange a private, personalised experience (the shore experiences team on board can help arrange this).</li>
</ul>
Transport on ‘standard’ shore experiences
The mode of transport used for each experience is noted in the tour description on My Cunard.
The experiences we offer involve a variety of transportation types (e.g. coach, minibus, boat etc.) which vary in size and age from port to port. Each has different accessibility and storage facilities.
Generally, full-size coaches can accommodate a limited number of small, collapsible scooters or manual wheelchairs in the hold. Guests or their companions have the responsibility for collapsing wheelchairs/scooters and placing them on the coach. If this isn’t possible, the wheelchair/scooter would need to stay on the ship as there are no storage facilities at the quayside.
Where minibuses/trolley trains are used to operate shore experiences, the storage space is too small to accommodate wheelchairs or scooters.
Accessible shore experiences and vehicles
Due to health and safety reasons, mobility scooters can’t be used on our accessible shore experiences as they can’t be safely secured inside the vehicles. If you’re a full-time scooter user or if you’d like an alternative option, we can arrange private shore experiences. Please&nbsp;speak with the shore experiences&nbsp;team on board for more personalised/ bespoke arrangements.
You can take an electric wheelchair on some accessible shore experiences. However, weight requirements do vary by tour. This information is detailed in the 'Essential Information' section of each individual tour.&nbsp;It’s advisable, where possible, to take a manual wheelchair instead as they’re always suited to the accessible vehicles.
Please also note that legal requirements for wheelchairs and travel within vehicles differ by country. Please ensure you check the 'Essential Information' for each individual tour to understand what is specifically required before you book your experience.
Accessible shore experiences are charged to your on-board account. If you’re entitled to receive a loyalty discount, it will be applied.
If you use a wheelchair or scooter part-time, we recommend you join a ‘standard’ shore experience and store your wheelchair/scooter in the hold of the coach or vehicle (providing it collapses).
Wheelchair accessible minibuses are only available in a few ports and can only accept full-time manual wheelchair users for safety reasons.
All the accessible vehicles we use and tours that are arranged locally are sourced from reputable and competent operators. They’re fully insured, have safety management systems in place and comply with all prevailing local rules, regulations and standards. The health, safety and comfort of our guests is paramount. However please be mindful that local country standards may not reflect those at home.
Written commentary for deaf/hard of hearing guests
If you let us know prior to sailing that you’d like written commentary of a shore experience, we’ll work with the tour agent and do our best to provide this for you. Please <a href="/contact-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">contact us</a> as soon as possible to request this.

Are Shore Experiences accessible for people with disabilities?

Signature Packages are only available to guests aged 18 and over. However, if the second guest in a stateroom is a child (e.g. there’s one adult and one child travelling together), they will each be charged the Signature Package price. In this case, the child will get the Wi-Fi package and dining credit, and the alcoholic drinks package will be replaced with an Alcohol-Free Collection.&nbsp;
Children travelling as guests three or four in a stateroom won’t be charged, and they’ll automatically get an Alcohol-Free Collection package free of charge.&nbsp;

Are Signature Package prices the same for adults and children?

Yes, subject to availability. Cunard Signature Packages can be added at the time of booking: once you’ve selected your chosen voyage, you’ll see the option to add the Signature Package or Premium Signature Package during the booking journey. Alternatively you can add packages after you have booked your cruise by contacting Cunard, or your travel agent.

Are Signature Packages available on all cruises?

The waters of the Norwegian fjords are generally not very choppy, especially compared to open sea conditions. The fjords are typically sheltered by surrounding mountains, which help calm the water and create a more tranquil and serene cruising experience.
However, the sea can be a bit rougher in some areas, particularly if you are cruising outside the fjords or on the open ocean, like when crossing the Norwegian Sea. Within the fjords themselves, the water is usually quite calm, making it ideal for scenic cruises.
If you're prone to seasickness, it’s always a good idea to check the weather forecast and consider seasickness remedies, but overall, the Norwegian Fjords are known for their peaceful, picturesque waters.

Are the Norwegian fjords choppy?

Yes; some websites and categories of websites are blocked either due to their content or due to their consumption of large amounts of bandwidth. Websites that may be blocked: adult content, alcohol and tobacco, anonymisers, drug abuse, file sharing, malware, nudity, online gambling, streaming hacking, phishing, proxy avoidance and violent content.By using our Guest Wi-Fi, you agree to the terms of our acceptable use policy, which sets out the requirements and limitations of using our internet plans.&nbsp;Our Essential Plan does not include video streaming, so social media is limited to images and text only.

Are there any browsing limitations with the on board internet plans?

Our Shore Experiences are open to everyone travelling on the voyage, and we offer a full range of itineraries and activity types, for all levels. Some Shore Experiences may have restrictions, such as age or mobility, but this information will be included in the Shore Experience important information, on My Cunard.

Are there any limitations on who can join a Shore Experience?

Yes, to link bookings, all guests need to be booked on the same voyage and must be embarking and disembarking the ship on the same days.&nbsp;
Additionally, only the lead guest can request to link bookings.&nbsp;&nbsp;
If you want to dine with friends or family who are not embarking or disembarking on the same days as you, and you have both selected Assigned Dining, please speak to the restaurant manager on board and they will do their best to accommodate you.

Are there any requirements or conditions for linking bookings? 

Any restrictions would be on an experience-by-experience basis, and these can be found in the Shore Experience important information, on My Cunard.

Are there any restrictions for Shore Experiences?

<ul><li>Download videos and music ahead of sailing.&nbsp;If you plan on watching a film or series, or listening to your favourite albums, podcasts or music playlists while on board, we recommend downloading it onto your device prior to sailing. Our Essential Plan does not include video or music streaming, and we cannot guarantee streaming speeds during peak hours.</li><li>Download apps before embarking. We strongly recommend you download any apps at home prior to sailing and avoid updating your device on our ships.</li></ul>

Are there any top tips for using the Wi-Fi on board?

There are no Electric Vehicle charge points at the port. CPS, our parking provider, can offer trickle charging as part of their parking package on a first come first served basis.

There are self service launderettes on board which are complimentary with washing machines, washing powder (you may bring your own personal washing powder if you wish), tumble dryers and ironing facilities which are available from around 7.30am until 9pm (subject to change).

Wet cleaning is a professional, aqueous cleaning process for sensitive and non-washable garments. The wet cleaning process was invented in 1991 by Kreussler &amp; Co GmbH in cooperation with Miele. Wet cleaning avoids the use of chemical solvents. Environmental groups and the United States Environmental Protection Agency have indicated that such alternative &quot;&quot;wet cleaning&quot;&quot; methods are better for the environment than chemical solvents and proponents of wet cleaning state that these methods can be used without shrinking or otherwise damaging garments that typically require dry cleaning.
We also offer slight alterations / repairs on board, for an added cost.&nbsp;

Are there laundry facilities on board?

Yes. You’ll find a café serving refreshments within the departure lounge of each cruise terminal in Southampton (Ocean, QEII, Mayflower, Horizon, and City).
As well as serving hot and cold drinks, including selected alcoholic options, each outlet also offers a selection of sandwiches, cakes, and snack foods. Vending machines are also available.

Are there refreshments available at Southampton cruise terminal?

Are Wine Collections available on all ships?

As pioneers of the World Voyage, we certainly think so! Are your kennels subject to height or weight restrictions?

If you are entitled to internet credit, select and purchase your desired Wi-Fi package in My Cunard. Once you’re on board we will apply your internet credit an on board credit, for you to use as you wish.
Alternatively, you can purchase a Wi-Fi package during your voyage and any applicable credit will be applied during your time on board.
Can I combine pre-voyage promotions with this loyalty benefit?
Yes, if you purchase a Wi-Fi package in My Cunard during a promotional period, you will still receive any loyalty internet credit you are entitled to as on board credit during your voyage.
My travel companion and I both have internet credit. Can we merge our credit together to buy one plan?
This loyalty benefit is personal to each individual and not transferable or combinable. Each guest must select and purchase their own internet package to receive their full credit entitlement.
What happens if I don’t spend the internet credit before I disembark?
Internet credit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
If I buy a multi-device package, can multiple guests put their credit towards the total payment?
As multi-device packages are arranged per individual guest, only one guest’s total internet credit can be redeemed in this case.

As a Cunard World Club member, how do I redeem my internet credit if I pre-purchase a Wi-Fi package on My Cunard?

When booking online, your total FCC balance will be applied against the cost of the new voyage you are booking online. If your FCC balance is greater than the cost of your chosen voyage, your remaining FCC balance will be retained for use towards the payment of another voyage.
You can also contact your travel agent or our Customer Contact Centre to use your Future Cruise Credit as payment across multiple Cunard voyages.

Can FCCs be used against multiple bookings?

Mareel spa treatments, salon services and fitness classes are available to book online on My Cunard from 365 days before your cruise departs. Alternatively, you can contact the Mareel Spa Reception once on board to make a booking, either in person or via your stateroom telephone.

Can I add spa treatments to my wedding booking?

Each upgrade offer is considered individually. That means we can’t guarantee that all (or any) reservations travelling together will be upgraded. Even if all your group's reservations are upgraded, we can’t promise that the upgraded staterooms will be close together.

Can I apply for a stateroom upgrade if I’m part of a group or travelling with another reservation?

Please arrive at the terminal at your set arrival time stated on your boarding pass.

Can I arrive earlier than my arrival time?

For cruises that sail out of Southampton and fly back into the UK, or vice versa, a transfer is generally provided from the airport to the ship in Southampton, or vice versa. Cruise Connect have 50 collection and drop-off points throughout the UK which can be found on their website.
If you book your voyage with the Cunard Fare pricing, you may be able to select complimentary cruise transfers as your chosen Cunard Fare benefit. In some instances, complimentary coach transfers may be available. This will be notified to you at time of booking. If this is the case then you must ensure that you have made your coach transfer booking with the Cruise Connect at least 35 days prior to departure.
All coaches are equipped with reclining seats, are non-smoking and normally have a WC and washroom. In addition, comfort stop(s) are made en route. Coaches also have wheelchair access via a lift or ramp.

Can I book a coach transfer to and from a UK port?

We always recommend booking your Shore Experiences early, to avoid disappointment. However, if a Shore Experience is sold out, we would encourage you to explore the other options available in the wide range of Shore Experiences featured on My Cunard.

Can I book a Shore Experience that is ‘Sold Out’? Are waitlists available?

Yes you can. Solo travellers wishing to book a double stateroom can pay the relevant ‘sole occupancy’ supplement, which typically ranges from 175% to 200% of the per person fare (depending upon availability and/or stateroom grade). Please note that ‘sole occupancy’ is limited and subject to availability – and the percentage of the sole occupancy supplement may change without prior notification.
Alternatively, single staterooms (Britannia Inside and Oceanview) are available on board Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth.&nbsp;

Can I book a standard (double occupancy) stateroom if I am travelling alone?

You’re free to bring water, soft drinks, and light snacks on board our ships. You may also bring one bottle of wine or Champagne per person to enjoy in your stateroom or suite.

Can I bring food or alcohol on board?

You are welcome to bring water, soft drinks and light snacks on board, although we encourage you to take full advantage of our dining options. These include indulgent fine dining, hearty gastro fare, an informal buffet, and complimentary breakfast in bed.

Can I bring food with me on board?

We offer salon services for children over the age of 13 when accompanied by an adult over 18.The gym may be used by persons over 16 years old, provided they are accompanied by an adult over 18.

Can I bring my child to the spa/gym?

Currently, we don’t offer gift vouchers that can be used to pay for Shore Experiences.

Can I buy Cunard gift vouchers for Shore Experiences?

Can I buy Cunard gift vouchers to put towards a voyage?

Once on board, if you wish to cancel your shore experiences before the cancellation deadline (generally 48 hours prior to the arrival in port), a 10% cancellation fee will be applied to your onboard account, and the full amount paid will be refunded to your original credit / debit card. Can I cancel my Shore Experience when I am on board the ship?

No: Signature Packages are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Can I cancel my Signature Package without cancelling my cruise?

You can review and cancel certain booked items in My Voyage. Select 'Voyage calendar’ from the My Voyage home page to see a summary of all of your bookings. If available, a ‘Cancel booking’ button will appear underneath a booking, which you can select.
If the option to cancel does not appear in My Voyage, you can request to cancel a booking at the relevant service desk on board. If you’re not sure who you need to speak to, our Reception team will be more than happy to help.
You cannot change a booking in My Voyage, but you may cancel a booking (where available) and then book again.

Can I cancel or amend something that I have already booked in My Voyage?

You can cancel or modify your upgrade offer up until the time the offer is accepted and your stateroom has been upgraded.
Once your offer has been accepted and your stateroom has been upgraded you are&nbsp;unable to cancel or modify your offer.

Can I cancel or modify my upgrade offer?

Please contact our Flights team to discuss your flight requirements, including any potential changes or upgrades.

Can I change or upgrade my flight?

Yes, our photographers will discuss various onboard locations and, where possible, accommodate your preferences.

Can I choose the location for my private photo shoot?

No. We can’t guarantee a specific stateroom location within the upgraded category. However, you will receive all amenities associated with the upgraded stateroom.
Cunard Upgrade may not be suitable for you if you have selected a particular stateroom because it has certain features or is in a particular location on board.

Can I choose the location or specific features of the upgraded stateroom?

Yes! You can choose a multi device plan which allows you to connect up to four devices simultaneously, this is available at a cheaper per device rate.If you have a single device plan you can only connect one device at a time.To switch to using your internet plan on a new device, connect the new device to the Guest Wi-Fi network, enter "internet.cunard.com" in your browser and then input your stateroom number and date of birth. You will then be able to 'Disconnect other device' and start browsing on the new device.

Can I connect multiple devices to the on board Wi-Fi?

Yes! Your Iris print comes beautifully mounted. Frames are available for purchase onboard at an additional cost. Please speak with the photographer to explore the various framing options that best complement your photo.

Can I get my Iris print framed?

Yes. You will still be required to access the ship through the terminal in the normal way, however, once you have collected your cruise card for your second, or subsequent cruise, you will be able to bypass the check in process and head straight down to x-ray and embarkation to come back on board.

Can I get off the ship in Southampton if I am doing a back-to-back cruise?

We don’t recommend this due to time constraints and the potential it has to affect your onward travel arrangements.You might notice on My Cunard that shore experiences are offered in destinations where the ship stays overnight or for multiple full days. These experiences are offered to guests who booked the longer holiday when a choice of durations was available.If you decide to join a shore experience on your embarkation or disembarkation day, we strongly advise you ensure that the timings don’t clash with your travel arrangements.Some experiences that take place on disembarkation days include a transfer to the airport. However, you should still ensure this gives you plenty of time to check in for your flight. If in doubt, check with the shore experience team on board.If you’d like to arrange a private tour for the final day of your holiday, it may be possible to organise it on board (with a taxi to your chosen destination). However, we recommend that you familiarise yourself with the process of taking luggage off the ship.

Can I join a Shore Experience on my embarkation or disembarkation day?

We ask parents and guardians to note that children under the age of 16 must not be left unaccompanied on the ship whilst the ship is in port. Can I leave my children on board while I go ashore?

Yes, you make a partial payment through our&nbsp;<a title="secure payment service" href="https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/balance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secure payment service</a> at any time until your balance is due. You can also pay your balance in full before your balance due date, should you wish.

Can I make a partial payment online?

If you have any special requirements for your Shore Experiences, please speak to the Shore Experiences team on board.

Can I make any special arrangements for my Shore Experience e.g. dietary?

Absolutely. You can book your own flights separately through an airline of your choice, extend your stay before or after your cruise with <a title="Hotels" href="https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/the-cunard-experience/cruise-and-stay/hotels">hotels</a>, or even book another cruise. However, booking flights through Cunard includes transfers and operational pre or post hotel accommodation where applicable, which you will not get if you book your flights separately.

Yes, you can place upgrade offers on multiple stateroom types, but cannot offer on an individual stateroom type more than once.

Can I place multiple upgrade offers?

Yes, it is possible to book a hotel if you are booked on a voyage-only cruise. Transfers are not included but would also be available.

Can I purchase a hotel package on a cruise-only voyage?

Yes, guests can purchase multiple Captain's Collection and Commodore's Collection wine collections.

Can I purchase multiple wine collections?

No. We will automatically allocate you an upgraded stateroom if your upgrade offer is&nbsp;accepted.
If you have already selected or have been allocated a stateroom number, there is no&nbsp;guarantee this stateroom will be available once your upgrade offer is accepted. If this is the case you will be allocated an alternative statement in the original grade booked.

Can I refuse the upgraded stateroom if I don’t like it and be moved back to my original stateroom?

The Northern Lights season in Alaska tends to fall between September-April, outside of peak cruise times, when evenings are at their darkest. Even then you're unlikely to spot the light show on an Alaska cruise as most itineraries focus on Southern Alaska and the areas around the Inside Passage, while the Northern Lights are typically only visible in the most northerly parts of Alaska and only for a handful of nights per year. Can I see the Northern Lights on an Alaska cruise?

Our kennels open several times a day to allow guests to spend time with their pet(s) on board. Exact kennel opening times will be confirmed on board but, to give you an illustration, kennels usually open. It is permissible to wear such items of clothing during the daytime.
It should also be noted that some countries may have rules against this sort of attire such as Barbados where it is illegal due to this matching the uniforms worn by security services.

Can I wear army camouflage clothing on board or ashore?

Yes, you will find a full selection of toiletries and cosmetics in the Royal Arcade shops. Complimentary Penhaligon’s toiletries are also included in your stateroom.

Can you buy toiletries on board?

No. A passport is required for all voyages, and you will not be able to embark your ship without a passport.

Can you go on a voyage without a passport?

You may bring one bottle of wine or Champagne on board to enjoy within your stateroom.

Can you pack alcohol?

Yes - you can view the Northern Lights on one of our Norwegian cruises, however we can't guarantee it! The aurora borealis is near impossible to predict, but sightings are more likely on clear nights between October and March, and odds increase the further north you travel. Cruises to Tromsø, the capital of the Arctic, should give you a decent chance.
