Suzanna Randall was born in Cologne, Germany, in 1979. After finishing school she moved to London to study Astronomy, graduating with an MSci from UCL in 2002. She decided to follow her passion for all things space and obtained a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Montreal, Canada, in 2006.
After graduating, she moved back to Germany to pursue a career in science at ESO, the European Southern Observatory in Garching near Munich. Having started as a research fellow with duties at the Very Large Telescope, she is now a staff scientist for ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array. Her research interests focus on stellar evolution and physics.
In 2018, Suzanna joined the Astronautin initiative, which aims to send the first German woman into space in 2021.
