Jonathan Haslam.

Politics
Former Downing Street communications director

Jonathan Haslam worked for six and a half years at the heart of John Major’s Downing Street. As the deputy and then Director of Communications he was ‘sources close to the Prime Minister’ and witnessed some of the most significant events in domestic and international politics firsthand.

Jonathan was also witness to the more intimate side of life ‘behind the black door’ as one of the small band of dedicated civil servants who truly understand the pressures on Prime Minsters and their families.

After the 1997 New Labour election victory he worked for David Blunkett at the Department for Education, before leaving for the City and a variety of corporate roles.

He has run his own communications consultancy, Haslamedia, for the last twelve years. Jonathan regularly appears in the media, most notably as a newspaper reviewer and political commentator on Sky News.
