Fireworks light the sky above Queen Anne as she sails on her long-awaited maiden voyage

Today we celebrate our newest ship’s first birthday and look back at her fabulous first year. And what a year it’s been! Queen Anne’s life at sea with Cunard began on 3 May 2024, when she departed from Southampton for the first time on her Maiden Voyage to Lisbon. One month later, on 3 June 2024, Queen Anne was named in a historic ceremony on the waterfront of the River Mersey in Liverpool. The crowd of over 50,000 were wowed by performances from Andrea Bocelli and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, before the city of Liverpool was officially named as Queen Anne’s godparent. Representing the city of Liverpool were five Liverpudlian icons:

  • Melanie C - Former Spice Girl and author
  • Katarina Johnson-Thompson - British Olympian
  • Ngunan Adamu - Local broadcaster and community leader
  • Natalie Haywood - Local restaurant entrepreneur
  • Jayne Casey - Liverpool music and cultural legend

After the day’s celebrations, Queen Anne sailed out of the Mersey against a firework-filled sky, where guests on board continued on their British Isles Festival voyage.

Throughout the year, Queen Anne sailed guests all over the world, with more than 73 maiden port calls in more than 26 countries across the globe, including iconic ports like New York, Miami, Hong Kong, and Sydney. Not to mention the beginning of her maiden World Voyage, starting with her maiden Transatlantic Crossing from Southampton to New York, departing from Hamburg on 7 January and Southampton on 9 January 2025.

On board, Queen Anne pioneered a host of new experiences for our guests. Bringing health and wellbeing to the forefront, the Pavilion Wellness Studio and the Pavilion Wellness Café have proved to be something of a game changer. Plus, our collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar has brought some exciting wellness journeys to Mareel spa. She’s also home to a huge array of artworks, and to help bring these to life, we’ve teamed up with Talk Art podcasters Russell Tovey and Robert Diament, who’ve created a self-guided audio tour of art across the ship.

Here’s a snapshot of her first year...

  • Queen Anne’s crew have welcomed 70,000 guests on board so far, with a further 62,000 booked to sail in the future - why not join them?
  • More than 50,000 people attended Queen Anne’s naming ceremony in Liverpool, at which special performers included world-renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and Liverpudlian legend Craig Charles
  • Since her maiden voyage, Queen Anne has visited over 73 ports in more than 26 countries across the globe
  • In January 2025, Queen Anne embarked on her maiden Transatlantic Crossing, departing from Hamburg on 7 January and Southampton on 9 January, arriving in New York for the first time on 18 January 2025
  • Queen Anne introduced a new and exciting first – she’s the only ship in the world on which guests can master their archery skills with a real bow and arrow, with the expert help of an instructor, thanks to a partnership with Archery GB

We look forward to many more firsts, and a wonderful array of voyages to be had on board Queen Anne and can’t wait to welcome more guests on board.
