Fashion Editor

Anna Murphy joined The Times as Fashion Director in 2015, having previously been the launch editor of Stella magazine at the Sunday Telegraph. She considers herself proof positive that a love of clothes and of books can happily co-exist in one well-dressed and well-read form. Not least because, as the all-white-wearing Mark Twain once famously said, “There is no power without clothes. It is the power that governs the human race.” Her journalistic aim is not only to aid and entertain on the topic of fashion, but also to analyse: why do we wear what we wear, and where does it get us? Her latest books are called How Not To Wear Black and Destination Fabulous.
