When sailing transatlantic, it’s so important to double-check you’ve packed everything you need - and that anything not permitted in your luggage gets left at home.

When it comes to accessories, it’s important to think about daytime and evenings on board, as well as the types of activities you might want to take part in.
&nbsp;
You may wish to add a little sparkle to your outfit in the evening with some jewellery, or switch to a clutch bag at night to hold your lipstick, room key, and your Daily Programme.
&nbsp;
A bow tie or tie will be required on&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/activity-types/evening/gala-balls">Gala Evenings</a>, so make sure you pack at least one of these. Braces or a belt may also come in handy, and if you want to add a little splash of colour or a touch of pizzazz on Gala Evenings, a pocket square is a great way to go about this.

You are welcome to bring water, soft drinks and light snacks on board, although we encourage you to take full advantage of our dining options. These include indulgent fine dining, hearty gastro fare, an informal buffet, and complimentary breakfast in bed.

Can I bring food with me on board?

Yes, you will find a full selection of toiletries and cosmetics in the Royal Arcade shops. Complimentary Penhaligon’s toiletries are also included in your stateroom.

Can you buy toiletries on board?

You may bring one bottle of wine or Champagne on board to enjoy within your stateroom.

Can you pack alcohol?

For all complimentary on board activities, your equipment is included at no extra charge. You’ll find an ever-changing programme of classes and activities to try each day, including fencing (adults 18+ only), table tennis, paddle tennis, shuffleboard, quoits, golf (chipping, putting and target nets), hoopla, darts, croquet and short mat bowls, to name but a few. Additionally, our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/activity-types/spa/fitness">gym and facilities</a>&nbsp;provide state-of-the-art equipment,&nbsp; with all necessary requirements provided to&nbsp;you once on your ship, so there’s no need to bring anything of this nature with you.&nbsp;

Do I need to bring sports equipment or can I rent it?

No, we will provide fresh beach, pool and bathroom towels for your throughout your stay.

Do I need to pack beach towels?

Irons are available in our laundries, so you won’t need to bring an iron with you.&nbsp;Please note, you are not permitted to bring irons on board with you.

Do the rooms have an iron, or should I bring one?

You’ll find both self-service launderettes and specialist cleaning services on board.
The self-service launderettes are complimentary and include washing machines, washing powder (you may bring your own personal washing powder if you wish), tumble dryers and ironing facilities, which are available from around 7.30am until 9pm (subject to change).
For sensitive and non-washable garments, we offer a specialist wet cleaning service at a small charge, free from the use of chemical solvents. This method can be used for garments that typically require dry cleaning.

How does the laundry service work?

We allow an unlimited amount of luggage on board our ships, so long as each individual bag weighs under 23kg. However, if your cruise includes a connecting flight, you will need to be mindful of the luggage restrictions enforced by your airline.&nbsp;

How many suitcases can I bring on a cruise?

It really depends on how often you’d like to dine out formally each night. We encourage smart attire in formal dining restaurants in the evenings, but for buffet dining and in our Golden Lion pub, no formal dress code applies.&nbsp;On Gala evenings, of which there are usually two or three per seven-night cruise, we ask that you dress to impress, so do bear this in mind when packing; you may also want to dress for the theme of the evening, which will be communicated before you sail. You can take advantage of our full laundry service on board, which may help to reduce the number of formal evening options you bring on longer cruises.&nbsp;

How many suits / dresses will I need?

This will depend on how much you plan to use the pool and spa facilities, but in general, we would recommend packing two or three swimsuits.

How many swimsuits / bathing suits will I need?

You are welcome to bring entertainment devices such as laptops, tablets and music players on board. Please also pack headphones, if you wish to use these in public areas of the ship.
Heated hair stylers, electronic shavers and tabletop fans can be used within your stateroom only. We provide hair dryers in all staterooms, so there’s no need to bring one with you.
Extension leads aren’t permitted on board, unless with essential medical equipment (e.g. CPAP and nebuliser machines). These will be checked for electrical safety along with your medical equipment, prior to sailing.

What electronics can I bring?

Cunard’s on board accommodation is among the most spacious at sea. Each stateroom is equipped with wardrobe hanging space and a safe for your valuables, as well as drawers for your clothes and accessories. Be sure to bring your swimwear, sunglasses, and sandals, as well as some lotion as the UV at sea can be a lot higher when spending time outside. Summer wear such as shorts, T-shirts, skirts, and dresses are all fine to pack for the daytime. In the evenings, linen shirts, chinos, co-ords, and a wrap are all fine for non-formal nights on board.

Sailing in winter means shorter, colder, and darker days, so packing cosy, warm layers is a must. Gloves, hats, and scarves, as well as a good winter coat, are essential if sailing at this time of year, particularly if you want to brave the elements out on deck. Fleeces, cardigans, and jumpers are also perfect winterwear.

Conditioner, however, isn’t provided, so you may wish to bring your own as well as any body lotions or moisturisers you use as part of your regular skincare routine. 
 
Something else you’ll need to remember is toothpaste and your toothbrush, although there are shops on board should you forget these.

You can also find fragrances and cosmetics for sale in Queen Mary 2’s shopping boulevard, as well as beauty and grooming products in your ship’s&nbsp;spa&nbsp;and salon. 
 
In the&nbsp;Mareel salon, an on-board manicurist is available to give your nails a professionally painted. And if you forget your beard trimmers, you can always make an appointment with the barbers, who offer a range of men’s grooming treatments and products to take away.

There are certain things that aren’t permitted on board a cruise ship. For Cunard cruises, these include everyday items you use at home, such as irons and extension cables, but also extend to things such as pool inflatables, compressed gas tanks, drones, and balloons. 
 
As we security scan all luggage at the terminal, any prohibited items found will need to be removed from your suitcases or carry-on bags prior to boarding.

No matter what activity takes your fancy (even if it's just relaxing with a good book), you'll want to be comfy, so packing supportive shoes that are easy to walk in and relaxed clothing is a must. There's no dress code during the day, so anything from jeans and leggings to jersey dresses, shorts, capri pants, cardigans and polos goes. It's really up to you.

As the sun sets, glamorous evenings of fine dining, music, and conversation beckon. In most bars and restaurants, smart attire is required after 6 pm. Pick a favourite dress or jumpsuit, or pair a collared shirt with&nbsp;chinos. Sports coats and blazers are optional, but welcome!&nbsp;
If more casual dress suits your comfort, we have several venues on board (including the buffets and the Golden Lion pub) with a more relaxed dress code.

Can I travel with my pet if my cruise includes a flight?

We can supply food for your pet from an approved list of UK-based pet food suppliers, included in the fare you pay for your kennel booking. If no brand on our list is suitable, we are happy for you to bring your own pet food on board. Please note, this is subject to change.

Do I have to bring food on board for my pet?

We cannot accommodate all larger dog breeds due to their size. Please contact us to confirm the appropriate maximum length and height requirements for your pet, along with applicable charges.In addition, dogs prohibited under the UK Pet Travel Scheme are not permitted on board. These currently include:<ul><li>XL Bully</li><li>Pit Bull Terrier</li><li>Japanese Tosa</li><li>Dogo Argentino</li><li>Fila Brasileiro Any mixed-breed dog which includes these breeds </li></ul>

Do you accept all breeds of dog?

Yes, dogs and cats sailing on our ships will require a pet passport to travel. Don’t worry, we’ll be in touch with all the necessary paperwork and requirements for your voyage, at least five months ahead of sailing. An Animal Health Certificate (AHC) in lieu of a passport is also accepted.
