    Sit back, relax and listen to the City’s rich history and heritage during a scenic drive, passing by the stunning Victorian architecture of the Historic District. Admire the panoramic views from Fort Howe and have your camera at the ready as you pass by Carleton Martello Tower.     Visit the interactive and dynamic New Brunswick Museum, where you can explore all things New Brunswick. Heading to the heart of the city, you’ll pass Irving Mansion, Rockwood Park, and Historic Trinity Royal. Then enjoy an hour of free time to wander around the Old City Market, pick up a souvenir or have a bite to eat.

    Leaving the city behind, you’ll travel to picturesque St Martins, a fishing village on the shores of the Bay of Fundy. The Bay of Fundy is renowned for having the highest tide on the planet (53 feet) and is a finalist in the campaign to elect the ‘New7Wonders of Nature’. Here, you’ll visit the famous sea caves and beach, which were carved out by the pounding tides and the rock covered beach. The caves are accessible at low tide, but can also be viewed from the beach.

  • Ride the Rapids

    The Reversing Falls jet boat ride is an adventure you won’t want to miss.

    On this exhilarating ride you will get up close to one of the world's most unique phenomena: the Reversing Falls.

    Your tour begins with an orientation through the City of Saint John and a visit to the Old City Market on Germain Street. There your guide will escort you through the marketplace, where the locals have been purchasing fresh produce since 1876. Enjoy a little free time to explore and chat with the stall holders.
    Get ready for a thrilling experience, as you board a high speed jet boat at Fallsview Park, for a 20 minute adventure through and across the famous Reversing Falls. Your captain will take you over and around the rapids, with excellent views of the powerful swirling whirlpools and the towering waves.

    Every six hours the water level in the bay either falls or rises some 8½ metres, causing the strong harbour currents to reverse. It is difficult to imagine that for approximately 20 minutes during the change of tides, the water is so calm and peaceful, yet a short time later; the currents are wild and forceful. Afterwards, you will be treated to a traditional lobster roll at the picnic grounds overlooking the Falls.


    Note: To participate, each person is required to sign a waiver and must be a minimum of 42 inches tall and 13 years of age or older. This tour is not recommended for guests with heart problems, back problems or those who may be pregnant. Please bring along a change of clothes and a towel as you will get wet riding the rapids.   • Hopewell Rocks Tidal Discovery

    Experience some of the world’s highest tides as you explore the Hopewell “Flowerpot” Rocks, a world class attraction.

    Travel along the picturesque Fundy Coastal Drive to Hopewell Rocks. Your local guide will delight you on the way with both facts and folklore surrounding the Bay of Fundy coastal communities.

    Pass through Fundy National Park, where you can often spot various bird species and even an occasional moose. Next, get ready to discover Hopewell Rocks, the icon of New Brunswick, and a UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserve. Experience these Flowerpot Rocks, created by the clash of continents, carved by melting glaciers, then sculpted by the highest tides in the world. Interpretation will be delivered to explain how twice daily one hundred billion tons of water creates tides that can rise up to 50 feet.

    Enjoy a buffet-style luncheon at the High Tide Café. Finally, you can relax as you enjoy the scenic New Brunswick countryside on your journey back to your cruise ship.

  • St Martins & the Bay of Fundy

    Painting the perfect picturesque panoramas, enjoy a visit to St Martins, with its lobster pots and lighthouse.

    Perched on the shores of the Bay of Fundy and less than an hour away from Saint John, is the picturesque fishing village of St Martins, a beautiful window through which to take a peek at life in New Brunswick.

    You will pass through Saint John and the scenic countryside en route to St Martins. Stop at the Reversing Falls to view this interesting curiosity. From the bluffs, your guide will explain that twice daily the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy rise faster than the river can empty, causing the rapids to run in the opposite direction and the St John River to flow backwards.

    Afterwards, you will visit St Martins sea caves and beach, which were carved out by the pounding tides and the rock covered beach. The caves are accessible at low tide, but can also be viewed from the beach. Enjoy a cup of traditional Maritime Seafood Chowder at a local restaurant on the beach. This area is a favourite with photographers and painters, with its lighthouse, lobster traps, and fishing boats creating a charming scene.

    Upon your return to Saint John, your guide will escort you through the Old City Market, where local folks have been purchasing fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and meats since 1876.

    Stopping on the west side of the city, you will visit the Carleton Martello Tower, a great place to survey the harbour from the old stone fort. The tower was built during the War of 1812 as a precaution against an American attack, and although sixteen such towers were constructed across Canada in the early 19th century, this is one of the few remaining.
