Bridgetown, Barbados - Caribbean Cruises

The original building of St John's Church was erected in 1660 and the present gothic structure is situated on a cliff 800 feet above sea level. Step inside to see the double staircase of cedar leading to the organ gallery and the traditional high-backed pews. The frangipani trees in the yard lead you to some magnificent views of the east coast.

The views from the Highland Centre are also spectacular. Located at the heart of the island, 1,004 feet above sea level, the picturesque landscape sweeps down to the east coast. Here, you will be offered a welcome refreshment whilst you take in the surrounding views.

Pass by sights such as Heroes Square (formerly Trafalgar Square) and Gun Hill Signal Station as you head towards the rugged Atlantic coastline. Travel inland up to the Highland Centre, where you will have spectacular views. See St Thomas Church, and pass through Holetown for a photograph stop at the monument to commemorate the place where the first settlers landed in 1627. Enjoy viewing the opulent Sandy Lane area before returning to the ship in Bridgetown.

A relaxing transfer will take you through the heart of Bridgetown, the historic capital of Barbados as you head towards the Tiki Bar Beach. Along the way, you will pass by Barbados’ Parliament Buildings, the third oldest Parliamentary institution in the Western Hemisphere, Heroes Square, with its historic statue of Lord Nelson, and Independence Square.

Upon arrival at Tiki Bar, you will be welcomed by a cooling refreshment and a brief orientation of the beach and its facilities. Known for its cool, refreshing and glistening turquoise water, Tiki Bar offers a great way to relax and unwind in the comfort of a beach chair and umbrella. You will have approximately three hours to enjoy the sun, sea and sand.

At the agreed time, you will re-group at the designated meeting point for the return drive to the ship.

Barbados is one of the few places in the world that served Concorde as part of its scheduled service.

Enjoy a scenic drive along the south coast to the island’s newest attraction – The Barbados Concorde Exhibit. The exhibit provides the opportunity to experience what it may have been like to travel on a Concorde aircraft. You will be shown a short film and have the opportunity to take a seat in one of the original leather seats and also take a peek into the cockpit.

Afterwards, you will take a drive through some of the island’s sleepy country villages and on to St John’s Church for a brief stop. This 17th Century church is reminiscent of a typical British parish church, complete with stained glass windows and traditional bell tower. Situated on a cliff 800 feet above sea level, there are wonderful views of the rugged east and south east coast.

Your final stop will be for a refreshing drink at the Atlantis Hotel, overlooking the spectacular Atlantic Ocean. Bask in the uncomplicated, yet stylish ambience of this unique property, surrounded by colonial furniture, brightly coloured fishing boats and modern amenities, before the return drive to Bridgetown.

This excursion will operate by minibus, Concorde aircraft and on foot. This tour involves around 40 minutes of walking. There are approximately 14 steps to negotiate at the Concorde Exhibit. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended.

Your transfer will take you from the port, heading through Bridgetown and along the kaleidoscopic South Coast to the Barbados Golf Club.

The 18-hole course spreads out over 6,905 yards among the rolling hills of the Barbados countryside. Two lakes enhance play on five of the holes and create the dramatic 'Amen Corner' on holes 15 and 16, while a series of coral waste bunkers add to the excitement.

When you have finished your game you can head for the clubhouse for some post-game analysis, before the return transfer to the port.

After a short drive, you’ll be welcomed aboard your catamaran to set sail along Barbados’ beautiful coastline. Perched on magnificent white-sand beaches, you’ll see some of the island's finest homes and hotels, which are only visible from the sea.

A stop will be made at a secluded bay, where you’ll have the opportunity to take to the inviting waters for a refreshing swim. If you prefer, you may wish to don some snorkel gear and view the shoals of tropical fish.

Afterwards you can simply relax, unwind and bask in the sun on deck and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

At another stop, you’ll have a unique opportunity to view and swim with the enchanting Green or Hawksbill Turtles, an opportunity not to be missed.

Head across the island to the spectacular Scotland District, an area of undulating landscapes overlooking the very scenic east coast. Your route passes acres of waving sugar cane and takes you through quaint rural villages with brightly painted rum shops and chattel houses. The beautiful rugged landscape, intriguing architecture and good-natured country folk, combine to make this a unique experience.

Enjoy the sights of Bathsheba, on the east coast, the most photographed area on the island. Watch the Atlantic breakers pound relentlessly against giant coral boulders and create whirlpools of foaming surf. A photographer's delight.

Setting off from the port, enjoy a drive through the bustling capital of Bridgetown, passing by the parliament houses and the 1813 statue of Admiral Horatio Nelson, before arriving at the historic Garrison area.

‘The Garrison’, as it is known locally, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was the base and headquarters for the British West Indies regiment in Barbados. Today it houses the Barbados Defence Force, including the Coast Guard Force and Cadet Corps. A guided tour will show you the George Washington House and the many well preserved 18th and 19th century military buildings. There will also be an opportunity to browse in the gift shop.

Afterwards, a brief drive will take you to St Ann’s Fort where a soft drink or rum punch refreshment will be served. You will also experience a reenactment of the changing of the sentry, performed by the Zoave Band and Garrison Soldiers, before the return drive to the port.

This excursion will operate by bus and on foot. This tour involves around one hour of walking over varying terrain, which includes some gravel surfaces. There are steps to negotiate at George Washington House and St Ann’s Fort. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended.

The west coast of Barbados, also known as the ‘Platinum Coast’, is widely known as one of the most expensive areas in the world to live. As you embark on a drive to the exquisite Sugar Hill, Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane areas, you will gain an insight into the elite lifestyle.

During your journey, you’ll drive through the areas where Cliff Richard, Virginia Wade, Mel Smith, and Japser Carrott, to name but a few, have chosen to have their luxury holiday homes.

Afterwards, you’ll head to the new Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, which has been attracting some famous names since its opening in 2011. The centre is a new concept for Barbados and offers a stylish shopping experience, with an abundance of designer names to choose including Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Dior and Bvlgari. Here you’ll be offered a refreshment and have free time to browse the shops before the return drive to the port.

This excursion will operate by minibus. This tour is designed to provide an insight into the elite resort locations only. The majority of the private homes and villas are hidden from view and access is neither permitted nor included. Photography may be restricted. The walking involved is limited, however passengers must be able to negotiate steps on to and off the minibus.

Take a scenic drive along the coast and onto the Atlantis Hotel, where you will receive a refreshing drink at an elegant historic property dating back to the 1800's. This boutique hotel is located in the quaint fishing village of Tent Bay, St Joseph, overlooking the spectacular Atlantic Ocean. Relax in the uncomplicated, yet stylish ambience of this unique property, surrounded by colonial furniture, brightly coloured fishing boats and modern amenities.

Afterwards, you will head to Sunbury Plantation House, which dates back to 1660. The house was destroyed by fire in 1995 but has now been gracefully restored. It possesses one of the island’s superior collections of antiques, and in the extensively landscaped grounds, you will see fine authentic examples of the machinery used in the last century.

During your visit to Sunbury Plantation House, a sumptuous afternoon tea will be available for you to enjoy.



This excursion will operate by minibus. This tour has very little walking, however there is some uneven ground and steps to be negotiated.

Enjoy a scenic drive to Gun Hill Signal Station, located in the parish of St George, which provides a magnificent and captivating view of the entire island. The Signal Station was restored and landscaped by the Barbados National Trust and now houses a collection of military memorabilia.

Afterwards, continue to Orchid World which spans over six acres of land, some 800 feet above sea level. Meander your way through the beautiful outcrops of coral, rock gardens, cool shady gullies and ponds. You will be fascinated by the beautiful orchid plants growing in mid-air with their roots completely free of any soil.

Sunbury Plantation House dates back to 1660 and possesses one of the country's superior collections of antiques. The cellars house a unique collection of antique carriages, as well as many items used in the domestic life of the plantation. In the extensively landscaped grounds you will see fine authentic examples of old carts and machinery used in the last century to cultivate the land.

During your tour, you will be offered a fruit or rum punch refreshment.


This excursion will operate by minibus and on foot. This tour involves approximately one hour of walking over some uneven and inclined surfaces, including steps. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended. Order of highlights may vary.

Step aboard your boat for an unforgettable adventure. Set sail along the island’s coast towards a sheltered bay for a wonderful experience with some of Barbados’ marine inhabitants. This area is known for its population of Green and Hawksbill Turtles, who enjoy the temperate calm waters off the west coast. Take this opportunity to snorkel with the graceful wild sea turtles and watch the crew feed these endangered creatures – an underwater camera is a must.

Take a dip in the warm, inviting waters from the boat; alternatively you may choose to simply relax on deck and enjoy the sunshine.

All too soon it will be time to depart and, as you cruise along the island’s west coast, the crew will serve refreshments from the open bar.

Cruise through an amazing undersea world at depths of 50 to 150 feet as you embark on a voyage of discovery aboard the Atlantis Submarine. Atlantis is one of the premier attractions in the Caribbean, providing a unique exposure to a fascinating underwater world.

You will board a ferry for the short transfer out to the dive site to join the Atlantis Submarine. The colour and abundance of exotic fish, spectacular sponge gardens and fascinating coral formations will be unveiled outside your porthole.

Atlantis is maintained at a cool air-conditioned temperature and sea level pressure. Experienced crew will point out and describe the sights in detail as tropical fish pass within touching distance of your porthole.



This excursion will operate by bus, boat and submarine. Children under four are not permitted to participate and all participating children must be at least three feet tall. This tour involves very little walking, however guests must be able to negotiate an 11 step ladder into and out of the Atlantis Submarine. The Submarine dive lasts approximately 50 minutes. The views underwater are subject to local sea conditions on the day.

Take in the beach views as you travel along the Spring Garden Highway towards the Barbados Wildlife Reserve. Once inside the Reserve you are in the animal’s kingdom as some of the creatures are free to wander as they please. It is a community devoted to man's love and respect for nature as well as to research and conservation. These animals are not tame, and unexpected noises may frighten them away. Stroll though the beautiful mahogany woods or take a seat on one of the benches and see what comes your way. Watch where you step, as you are certain to see some of the numerous tortoises that roam the reserve.

This tropical haven is home to many animals, reptiles, birds and of course the green monkey. Look out for these little creatures that have saved thousands of lives and are responsible for 70% of the world’s polio vaccines.

Refreshments will be offered before taking the return drive to Bridgetown, passing through sleepy country villages enjoying the scenery.


This excursion will operate by minibus and on foot. Guests are advised that ground within the Reserve is uneven. Comfortable, flat, walking shoes are recommended. Please note that the animals do not all roam freely, they are all part of an ongoing conservation programme, and some are housed and caged.
