Cunard also moves with the times, which is why the time has come to enhance your experience even further on board Queen Victoria.

From 5 May to 4 June 2017, Queen Victoria entered dry dock for a partial refit at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Sicily. This included an upgraded and increased choice of staterooms, new Britannia Club dining, a broader and more distinct bar offering, a transformed sun deck, and several other new features.

People have asked why Queen Victoria has been refitted when she already meets every expectation; she simply prefers to exceed them.

Daytime relaxation.

There are so many satisfying spaces on board a Cunard ship, yet watching her wake stretch towards the horizon leaving behind the ordinary world is surely one of the most satisfying. During the refit of Cunard’s Queen Victoria, her service offering has been brought in line with that of the rest of the fleet and her popular aft lido sun deck has been expanded.
Sunset and beyond.

The new design maximises and transforms her aft deck space to create a stunning contemporary mix of sun and shade, more akin to a luxury resort roof terrace – perfect for sailing around the Mediterranean. Guests are now able to enjoy more generous seating, enhanced deck furniture, extended shaded areas, al fresco dining options and a full beverage service throughout the day and into the evening, with live entertainment.

Bars and lounges.

Contrary to speculation that Queen Victoria’s popular Chart Room was to be removed during her refit, it has simply been moved. And in the process, refined with the allure and glamour of a classic cocktail bar from the heyday of her key sailing destinations. Through charts and cartography, her elegant new menu navigates destination-specific stories, pairing a selection of classic beverages with light canapés and snacks – and the introduction of delectable Godiva chocolates. In the evening, this elegant venue serves cocktails linked to celestial charts from which ships used to navigate. Signature specials will be created for different destinations and voyages.

The Midships Lounge has also received some special attention with the introduction of a gin and fizz themed menu, including gin served from an old-fashioned spirit tap – to infuse a more distinctive character. This brings to life wines, Prosecco, Cava and Champagne alongside premium gin and spirits, all blended to create fresh and inspiring cocktails.

Winter Garden.

One surprising constant with Cunard is change: our continual striving to bring you an even more refined experience. That is why, during the refit of Queen Victoria, two of her popular public areas have been refreshed. The Winter Garden is a beautifully relaxed room in the heart of deck 9 close to the pool and Lido buffet. Flooded with natural light, the room’s floor to ceiling windows command some of the best views across the ship and out to sea. Perfect for watching the world go by whilst enjoying a beverage, the comfort and décor of the Winter Garden has been further refined: from the statement floor, glorious glass canopy to the elegant lounge furniture.

Yacht Club.

The Yacht Club makes its dazzling debut on board Queen Victoria, featuring expansive seating and extended serving hours. In the daytime, the Club hosts a greater range of social activities, in addition to many insightful and entertaining events. At 3.00pm, the deck transitions into pre- and post-dinner entertainment venue with superb dedicated jazz music, followed by a DJ and dance band late into the night.

Grand designs. Following Queen Victoria’s refit, guests wishing to escape or entertain within their Cunard Grand Suite can discover a host of enhancements. These include a clever configuration of furniture to maximise comfort and convenience, together with refreshed interior design. The many other appeals of a Cunard Grand Suite include: floor to ceiling windows and doors, a separate snug room with TV, a beautifully-appointed lounge, a master bathroom with sea view, a second bathroom with guest access, a bedroom TV that folds down from the ceiling, a walk-in wardrobe with additional storage units, and a generous dual aspect balcony. The height of luxury at sea, raised. Five of Queen Victoria’s elegant, deck 8 aft, Penthouse Suites have been entirely redesigned to create more spacious and sumptuous suites – among the finest accommodation available at sea today. You will then be invited to luxuriate in a secluded haven of space, featuring a private balcony commanding impressive sea views, beautiful bathrooms with whirlpool baths, and your very own butler or concierge who can take care of any details, leaving you free to enjoy a perfect time. A stateroom upgrade for every guest. All Britannia staterooms on board Queen Victoria have been refurbished. Each features newly designed carpets and soft furnishings, new flat screen HD televisions and, by popular request, tea and coffee making facilities. All Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites have also received interior enhancements during Queen Victoria’s refit to maximise space whilst ensuring unsurpassed levels of elegance and comfort. Britannia Club accommodation and dining comes to Cunard’s Queen Victoria. We are delighted to announce the introduction of 43 spacious Britannia Club balcony staterooms in a prime midship location on decks 7 and 8.
