World Voyages and Extended Voyages
World Voyage Experience
Imagine three months on board a Cunard Queen, dining and dancing in distinctive Cunard style, awaking each glorious morning to a new day of adventure and exploration. If time does not allow you to follow the entire sparkling route of a full World Cruise, you can still experience this legendary exploration with a selection of shorter exotic voyages.
“When people spoke of five star hotels floating I didn’t know what it meant – but this is just amazing. The cuisine here is fabulous” Archbishop Desmond Tutu on board Queen Mary 2, March 2010.

As if to enhance the powerful allure of a World Voyage, elegant Cunarders are frequently welcomed ashore as visiting dignitaries. Flotillas of smaller vessels often escort our ships into berth and locals flock to the waterfront.
“Around the world Queen Mary 2’s lucky guests witness the thousands of well-wishers who come to celebrate her arrival and departure in their home city. They come in sail boats, power boats, canoes and kayaks, and even charter vessels, filled to the brim with local people hoping to catch a glimpse of this famous ocean liner.” Peggy and Pam Zirkle.

It’s not just our ships that possess celebrity status; famous names regularly grace their guest lists during World Cruises. Sir Jackie Stewart, Martin Bell and Archbishop Desmond Tutu are among those to have recently written themselves into our illustrious history, joining a distinguished list of authors and astronauts, philosophers and politicians – as well as former South African president, Nelson Mandela.

All these voyages encompass the exotic and the faraway. Certain destinations along World Cruise routes can truly be considered once-in-a-lifetime, especially as many of the world’s great harbours await, such as Sydney, Cape Town, Hong Kong and many more. They therefore deserve more than a fleeting acquaintance, which is why virtually every visit lasts at least eight hours and the vast majority offer guests ten hours or more to forge an indelible impression.

Venture off independently or embark on a thrilling Cunard shore event. These ensure every call brims with possibility, from a broad overview to a focus on, say, wildlife, cuisine or art – even unique activities like sailing an America’s Cup yacht in Auckland. There are also moments where sights too wondrous to ignore lie tantalisingly out of reach during a single day ashore. In such instances, intrepid guests may be enticed inland at one port and rejoin their ship several days later. The rewards are immense: from the crimson splendour of Uluru – otherwise known as Ayers Rock – to Angkor Wat’s jungle-clad temples, our overland adventures are your gateway to sights that will stay with you forever.

Culinary temptation beckons from your first waking moments of every day along your chosen cruise itinerary. You’ll notice how the flavours reflect your current location, as our talented chefs conjure up delicacies using Caribbean plantain and papaya or vibrant creations bursting with the freshest Mediterranean ingredients. Be assured that vegetarian options liberally adorn our restaurant menus, alongside healthy choices to ensure delicious need not mean decadent. There are also many more options – some restaurants devote evenings to a particular culinary theme such as Indian, pan Asian or Italian.
