Voyage into the heartland of New Zealand’s Maori culture. Accompanied by a Maori guide, travel to a traditional “marae,” a sacred space in the heart of the village, where you will be warmly greeted by the locals. They will offer a glimpse into their way of life with you through arts and crafts demonstrations, and folklore performance featuring the fearsome haka war dance. After light refreshments, head to Minden Lookout for wonderful views of the Bay of Plenty. Continue to the historic battle site of Gate Pae and view the Maori War Canoe, Te Awanui, before returning to your ship.
