Drive to the heart of the Yangtze Delta to discover this ancient city, over 2,500 years old. Step into the Garden of the Humble Administrators, built in 1509 during the Ming Dynasty and considered one of the four finest classical gardens in China. Suzhou is also famous for its silk embroidery, and you can see traditional methods at The Silk Embroidery Research Institute. After lunch, cruise the Grand Canal for a view of traditional architecture and an insight into life along its banks, with a brief stop at the Pan Gate that, 2,500 years ago, was the only entrance into the walled city.
