Head out through beautiful pine forests and valleys to the town of Sigulda, often called the ‘Latvian Switzerland.’ Climb the spiral steps of the fortified tower at 13th-century Turaida Castle for a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding landscape. A guided walk then leads to Turaida Church, before you explore the sculpture park celebrating Latvian folklore. Prior to lunch, admire the 13th-century Sigulda Castle ruins and the 19th-century Kropotkin’s Manor House. Returning to Riga, drive past Art Nouveau buildings and through the Old Town to Town Hall Square, where you’ll have some free time.
