Visit some of Goa’s world-famous basilicas for a look at the territory’s rich history. Begin at the Basilica of Bom Jesus and view the richly gilded altars and glass coffin that holds the remains of St Francis Xavier, Goa’s patron saint. Continue to one of the largest churches in Asia, Se Cathedral. It offers a fascinating mix of Portuguese-Gothic, Tuscan and Corinthian styles. A short walk takes you to the Church of St Cajetan, modelled after St Peter’s in Rome. On the way back to the ship, stop briefly at Panjim to view the bustling vegetable and fruit market.
