Port Sunlight is arguably the finest example of early urban planning in the UK, a late 19th century village built by philanthropist William Hesketh Lever to house his soap factory workers at Lever Brothers. Take a leisurely drive around the 900 houses and larger buildings, nearly all of them Grade II-listed, boasting an eclectic mix of architectural styles and set in 130 acres of beautiful parkland. You’ll also visit the Port Sunlight Museum to discover its history, and the Lady Lever Art Gallery, a remarkable collection of paintings, tapestries, sculpture, furniture, Wedgwood and antiquities.
