Gain an insight into the impact that WWII had on Kristiansand during a visit to Stiftelsen Arkivet and the Kristiansand Cannon Museum. Stiftelsen Arkivet was a notorious former Gestapo headquarters known as the “House of Horror.” The Kristiansand Cannon Museum (The Vara Battery) features displays of WWII artillery and uniforms, with the main attraction being a large battery cannon built by the Germans to defend the coastline during WWII. It is the only complete surviving 15-inch-caliber Krupp Cannon, almost 66 feet long, weighing 674,000 pounds and with a firing range of 34 miles.
