Your first stop is Kenroku-en, one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. Marvel at the pines, pavilions, streams and bridges that characterize the 24-acre paradise, and note features such as a teahouse dating from 1774.

Continue to the Nagamachi Samurai District, once home to many of Kanazawa’s samurai. The remains of their houses can be seen today with a few surviving residences, boundary walls, narrow lanes and canals.

Then, you’ll explore Higashi Chayamachi, the city's feudal pleasure district and home to traditional ‘tea houses’ where rich merchants and artisans held drinking parties and geisha performed. Explore the narrow streets and tea house buildings, where geisha still entertain.
