Eiheiji Temple and Tojinbo (Guided in English)
USD155 per person
Your first stop is Fukui, where you’ll visit the Eiheiji Temple, the largest in Japan. This beautiful structure is known as the ‘temple of eternal peace’ and was founded in 1244, serving as a training center for Zen Buddhism ever since. After your visit, continue to Tojinbo, an astounding fifty-foot-high cliff of unusually shaped pentagonal and hexagonal rock columns, created by a volcanic eruption 130 million years ago. See formations such as ‘Lion Rock’, and don’t forget to bring your camera. During your tour, enjoy a Shojin Ryori lunch (traditional monk vegetarian meal) at a local restaurant.
