Join your guide for a leisurely walk around the diverse city of Fremantle. You will see many of the city’s important buildings including the Round House, Western Australia’s oldest public building, the Fremantle Markets building and the Victorian Town Hall with its landmark clock tower.
As you stroll along the High Street, you will feel as though you have stepped back in time to the 1900s, as the Victorian houses that were built here 100 years ago have been preserved and well maintained. In contrast, the port’s old commercial centre on Cliff Street are lined with Colonial buildings.
As you walk along Fremantle Harbour, you will see the C.Y. O’Connor Statue, this bronze sculpture pays tribute to the Chief Engineer for Western Australia, who created the harbour by blasting and dredging rock and sand at the river mouth. Amble along the Esplanade, the city’s major parkland and pass by the modern venue of the Maritime Museum before returning to the ship.
