Your comprehensive day begins with a scenic drive to the Plaza Mayor, the newly refurbished main square, where you can appreciate majestic colonial architecture. Visit the beautiful Cathedral and experience the Archbishop's Palace with its impressive balconies (exterior view).Continue with a short walk to the Santo Domingo Convent, constructed in the 16th Century. Containing the remains of three important Peruvian Saints, including San Martin de Porres, the continent's first black saint, Santo Domingo was also the original home of the oldest university in the Americas, San Marcos.Next, you�ll drive to the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores, which boasts magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. The first stop in Miraflores is the Indian Market, where you will come across an enormous variety of artisan products in textiles and worked gold and silver as well as typical handicraft.Enjoy a delicious buffet luncheon at a leading local restaurant.The final visit will be to the Gold Museum; here you will take in one of Peru's largest private collections, amassed over a lifetime by the late Peruvian diplomat Miguel Mujica Gallo. The collection contains pre-Inca and Inca gold, ceremonial objects, weapons and military uniforms.
