Big Band Ball.

Queen Elizabeth is delighted to once again host this spectacular event for dance and music lovers everywhere in 2019.

October 4, 2019, Queen Elizabeth.

Inspired by the iconic big bands of the ‘30s and ‘40s, Cunard’s Big Band Ball combines hugely talented musicians from venues across the ship with some special guest musicians from the UK Big Band scene, to create a swinging 17-piece orchestra, accompanied by vocalists including Joe Stilgoe, performing Big Band classics in the Queens Room for one very special evening.

Special guest on board.

Joe Stilgoe.

Joe Stilgoe is an internationally acclaimed singer, pianist and songwriter. His live shows are a mixture of virtuosic musicianship, breathtaking theatricality and interaction with the audience, combining on-the-spot improvisation and the quickest of wits.

As well as releasing 5 critically lauded albums, three of which have topped the UK Jazz charts, Joe has toured all around the world with his band and as a solo act. He has appeared in jazz clubs and concert halls and performed at the Olivier Awards. He is frequently a guest performer with orchestras including The John Wilson Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra, and last year put together his own Big Band for 3 sold-out shows at The Lyric Hammersmith.

He also works extensively on radio, having hosted and starred many times in BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night, while also being a regular presence on the station. He has appeared on the Now Show, Loose Ends and The Horne Section for Radio 4, is a regular on In Tune for Radio 3, and this year, he is launching his own brand-new show on Jazz FM.
