Follow in the footsteps of pilgrims from around the world, and visit the beautiful medieval city of Santiago de Compostela and its magnificent Cathedral.
Over half a million pilgrims flock to this great shrine every year, and this is your opportunity to take part. Once the third most important place of pilgrimage, after Jerusalem and Rome, the magnificent Santiago Cathedral is a monument to the apostle, James, whose relics are believed to have been discovered here in the 9th century.
After a scenic ride through the Galician countryside you’ll arrive in the Old Town of Santiago, one of the world's most beautiful urban areas. Brimming with Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque buildings, your guide will explain the unique characteristics of the four majestic squares surrounding the Cathedral.
Then you can enjoy a self-guided tour of the cathedral, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. Filled with countless treasures, highlights include the tomb of St James and the various chapels around the building.
You’ll also have the opportunity to browse for souvenirs and enjoy a coffee break at the 15th-century Parador Hostal de los Reyes Catolicos.
