Costa Rica has more than 900 species of birds and offers great bird-watching opportunities. Spend the morning exploring the trails of the Carara National Park, a boundary between tropical dry and humid forest.
Some of the birds you may encounter are the Hoffmann’s Woodpecker, Orange-collared Manakin, Panama Flycatcher and Black-hooded Antshrike. If you have your own binoculars, bring them along to spot the more camouflaged and shy species.
Look out for the Scarlet Macaw, these large, raucous members of the parrot family add a bright splash of primary colours to the overall green of the rain forest.
After this fascinating experience, you’ll stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious Costa Rican breakfast with cup of freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee.
Continue your journey to the Tarcoles River for a relaxing pontoon boat trip through the mangroves before returning to the ship.
