Soak up the stunning, diverse scenery of Isafjordur and delve into its fascinating culture and history.
Sit back and enjoy the panoramic views, as you travel through the harsh mountain landscape. After arriving at Skrúður Gardens, you can stroll around the small but pretty grounds of Iceland’s first botanical garden, which was founded in 1909.
Then you’ll visit Flateyri village, which developed around the shark-fishing industry in the mid-19th century. You’ll visit their small, charming church and enjoy an atmospheric, Icelandic music programme.
Afterwards, wander down the small main street of Flateyri with your guide, to visit the old bookstore and merchant’s home – where time appears to have stood still. There’s an exhibition on the history of Flateyri, and next door you can watch the town’s women in their handcraft workshop.
Then enjoy tea or coffee, and homemade Icelandic cakes, with the locals.
