As you head out of the city on a leisurely drive you can admire the typical Icelandic scenery as you make your way to the River Skjálfandafljót and the beautiful Goðafoss waterfall.
You’ll get lovely views of this voluminous cascade, which stands almost 40 feet high and stretches over 100 feet wide. The ‘Falls of the Gods’ earned its name when chieftain Thorgeir threw the pagan gods into the falls during Iceland’s conversion to Christianity in 1,000 AD.
