Delve into the lore and legend of Lewis’s rugged northern tip. Your journey begins in the charming little harbour of Port Ness, a stronghold of the Gaelic language, with the highest percentage of Gaelic speakers in the country. Enjoy some free time to explore, and visit the Harbour View Gallery to admire the work of local artists. A short drive brings you to the ancient Church of St Moluag, with its unique T-shape. You’ll then head on to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse, built by the Stevenson brothers in 1862. Photograph its red-brick exterior and enjoy spectacular views out to sea.
