Enjoy a taste of Iceland’s history, culture, and impressive volcanic scenery.
Soak up the dramatic scenery as you drive through picturesque Hafnarfjordur, a quaint town built on an ancient lava flow. You’ll visit enchanting Kleifarvatn Lake, one of Iceland’s deepest lakes, and the geothermal fields of Krysuvik, where you can watch powerful jets of steam escaping from the earth’s crust and boiling pools of multi-coloured mud.
Continuing across the lunar-like volcanic plateau of Reykjanes, you’ll reach the fishing village of Grindavik. There you’ll stop to view the nearby Blue Lagoon, which is draped in a perpetual cloud of vapour, and surrounded by jagged lava formations.
At the Viking World Museum, you can stroll through captivating artefacts, maps, and audio-visual displays that tell the story of Viking expansion across the North Atlantic. It’s also home to ‘Islendingur’ (The Icelander), a full-scale replica of a Viking long ship.
