But no visit would be complete without admiring the vast swathes of dense rainforest, and Braulio Carillo National Park obliges with an aerial tram ride through the lush canopy.

  • Costa Rican Country Drive

Enjoy the delightful countryside of Costa Rica, the typical community village of Bananito and a coastal drive.

    Costa Rican Country Drive

Enjoy a scenic drive through Puerto Limon. The province of Limon covers an area of approximately 14,702 square miles, with a total population of 169,000. Many of the residents are descendants from Jamaica that were originally brought to the country to build the railroad. After completion of the railroad, these Jamaicans stayed in the area to work on the cacao and banana plantations.

You’ll then continue on your drive passing the oldest part of Limon, which was constructed by the first Jamaican settlers. These houses were built on stilts to prevent flooding from overflowing coastal swamps, landslides and heavy rains.

En route, you'll pass the international airport and venture into the countryside. The lush landscape alternates rainforest with banana and cacao plantations. Keep an eye out for the egrets, kingfishers, great blue herons and pelicans that call the coastal lowlands home.

Visit a banana plantation for a close-up look and explanation of this delicious fruit. Finally, a brief stop will be made in a souvenir shop where you can purchase local souvenirs prior to returning to the ship.

This excursion will operate by coach. This tour involves limited walking, however guests must be able negotiate steps onto and off the coach.
