Azores cruises

The Azores are often referred to as Portugal’s ‘best kept secret.’ The unspoilt and beautifully remote group of nine volcanic islands form an entrancing archipelago in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. There is a mysterious quality to the islands, many of which are uninhabited and home to unique migratory birds visiting from Europe and Africa.

Colonised by the Portuguese in the 16th Century, the Azores have provided a haven to Atlantic mariners for over five centuries.

Sao Miguel is the largest and most populated of the nine islands. This is where you are most likely to dock here during a cruise to the Azores. It boasts beautiful lakes, sandy beaches, rolling hills, high mountains, green plains and a warm, turquoise ocean.

The island’s cosmopolitan town of Ponta Delgada has a lot to offer visitors. The modern marina and shopping facilities sit strikingly against a backdrop of turn of the century architecture. The contrast is arresting but somehow looks just perfect.
