    Colin Hobbs
    Colin Hobbs - Aviation

    Colin Hobbs has spent virtually all of his career (over 35 years) in the civil aviation industry, principally running Airports and Airlines, and has a deep knowledge of the business both in front of and behind the scenes.

    He started as a sponsored Business Studies graduate of H J HEINZ company, and joined BAA (British Airports Authority) at Heathrow Airport in 1971. In 1974 he moved to British Airways and held a variety of Airline Operations and Marketing posts in UK and overseas.

    In 1981 he joined International Aeradio leading teams bidding for aviation contracts worldwide. He was appointed Head of Aviation Marketing and lived in Dubai for two years.

    In 1987 he accepted an offer to rejoin BAA to launch Stansted as London’s new major airport and in 1991, following the Opening of the Airport by Her Majesty the Queen, Stansted Airport was the overall winner of the AOCI Communications Excellence award from 260 entries worldwide.

    Following a secondment as Managing Director of the London Tourist Board, he was appointed Managing Director of Southampton Airport by BAA in 1996 and Chief Executive of the Oman Airports Management Company, a joint venture between BAA and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman in 2001 and lived in Oman for over 3 years.

    He has spoken widely to business and social groups in the UK and overseas and has been Master of Ceremonies on several occasions for charity and entertainment events.

    He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is a Justice of the Peace.

    Ian Brown
    Ian Brown - Police & Criminology

    Ian Brown started his career as a beat constable in the Lake District, later joining the Metropolitan Police and then heading a Drug Squad in the Caribbean. He was involved in high profiled cases including The Sweeney armed robberies, Brinks Mat Gold Bullion robbery (which ended tragically with the death of a police officer at the hands of Kenneth Noye) and The Krays.

    With a career lasting thirty years, Ian has many anecdotes to entertain and fascinate you, related with real insight and authority. These may include Ted Heath’s yacht Morning Cloud and Princess Diana’s Caribbean adventure. Ian received over 30 commendations during his service, from the UK, Caribbean and the USA, including the Queen's Commendation for Bravery.

    Robin Oakley
    Robin Oakley OBE - British Journalist for CNN and formerly BBC

    Robin Oakley is a journalist and author of several books on politics and horse-racing. A contributor to CNN on European affairs and The Financial Times, Robin is also the turf columnist of The Spectator magazine.

    Robin recently ended an eight-year term as European political editor of the international broadcaster CNN. Before that he was political editor of the BBC, covering EU summits, G8 meetings and prime ministerial trips around the world. From 1986 to 1992 Robin was the political editor of The Times in London.

    Robin's recent books include a memoir of his other life in horseracing, The Hundred Best Horses in Britain and Ireland, a history of the Cheltenham Festival, and biographies of the trainers Barry Hills and Clive Brittain. Earlier he published Inside Track, an anecdote-filled reflection on his years reporting politics. In 2001, Robin Oakley was awarded the OBE for services to Political Journalism.
