    Seal Bay Conservation Park is home to a protected colony of Australian Sea Lions. Here, a guided tour will show you these intriguing creatures in their natural environment of sand dunes, beaches and ocean.

    Heading off to the south coast, you’ll continue towards Flinders National Park, where a short photo stop will be made en-route for you to admire the stunning coastline. You’ll soon arrive at a local café to enjoy a tasty sandwich, a slice of cake and a tea or coffee.

    After lunch, your journey takes you into Flinders Chase National Park to view the impressive natural geological landmarks. Admire the ‘Remarkable Rocks’ a cluster of precariously balanced granite boulders, and the ‘Admirals Arch’, a rugged caved arch naturally sculpted by years of weathering.

    Please note that the roads in Kangaroo Island can be quite bumpy and sections are dirt road ways only. Your driver is also your guide. Please carry a light, windproof jacket and sunscreen. Comfortable, enclosed footwear is recommended. Admirals Arch is located down two sets of steps, however these are optional. The Seal Bay boardwalk is approximately 700 metres in length. There are around ten steps down to Seal Bay Beach. Your driver is also your guide.

    If you’re a conservationist at heart then you'll be thrilled by the opportunity to join a tour that uncovers the best that the north coast of Kangaroo Island has to offer.

    Firstly, travel to Kingscote, the island’s largest town and commercial hub. Surrounded by hills and cliffs that descend down to Reeves Point, enjoy some free time to explore the shops or enjoy a coffee at one of the many cafés. Then sit back relax and enjoy a scenic drive along the north coast to stunning Stokes Bay. With your guide, you’ll stroll along the secluded beach before lunch, the best fish and chips that the region has to offer!

    Then it’s on to a Rare Breeds Farm to meet a unique collection of unusual breeds of domestic farm animals, many of the brink of extinction. Here you’ll find cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry in forms and colours that you never previously knew existed!

    A short drive brings you to Stokes Bay Bush Garden. Here you can discover some of the most unique flowers and plant life in all of Australia, with over 1,000 plants, including 150 species native to South Australia and 16 species only found on Kangaroo Island.

    A scenic drive will take you to historic Cape Willoughby, home to South Australia's first lighthouse. Enjoy a guided tour with one of the Park Rangers to discover more about the area’s early role in coastal shipping, colonial trading and passenger transport.

    Your next stop is at a cellar door for a tasting of locally produced red and white wines. Soak up the unique location, or if you prefer just wander on the secluded beach nearby. Either way you won't be disappointed, that's for sure.

    With your knowledgeable guide, you’ll embark on a panoramic drive to Antechamber Bay and Chapman River. Be sure to have your camera at the ready to capture the wonderful views from the lookout near Penneshaw.

There is approximately 40 minutes of intermittent walking included on this tour, over some uneven terrain. It is recommended you take a bottle of water, local currency and sunscreen. Comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather and a sun hat are recommended. Time permitting, guests wishing to visit the inside of the lighthouse may do so at an additional cost of AUD$13, payable locally.

    Leisurely Kangaroo Island

    Embark on a leisurely journey around the south of Kangaroo Island and discover some of the area’s scenic sights, including Kingscote, Pennington Bay and Cape Willoughby.

    Kingscote is the largest town on Kangaroo Island and is located on the beautiful shores of the Nepean Bay. Enjoy 30 minutes’ free time to take a wander down the beach, meet the local pelicans, browse the shops for souvenirs or relax with a coffee. Located close to Kingscote is Reeves Point, site of the first official European settlement in South Australia. Due to its historical significance, Reeves Point has been placed on the Australian Heritage Places List.

    Pennington Bay is a stunning bay that is famous for its surfing. The viewpoint here provides a fantastic panorama of the striking coastline.

    Cape Willoughby Conservation Park is home to South Australia's first lighthouse. Although the lighthouse operated to prevent shipwrecks, a number of ships still sank off the coastline, the remnants of which can still be found in the area. Pause for a photograph, before returning to the pier.

    Please note that the roads in Kangaroo Island can be quite bumpy and sections are dirt road ways only. Most of the sights are seen from the comfort of your coach, with a five minute photograph stop at Pennington Bay and Cape Willoughby. Any walking during the free time in Kingscote is at guests’ own discretion.

    Combine an exhilarating RIB ride around the picturesque coast of Kangaroo Island with sightings of native wildlife in their natural habitat.

    Board your RIB at Christmas Cove, for a fascinating safari to discover the native wildlife in its natural environment.

    As you whizz around part of the magnificent coastline, including Dolphin Cove, Cuttlefish Bay, Kangaroo Head and Snapper Point, you’ll be provided with a local history, wildlife facts and geological information.

    Your experienced Captain knows where to go for the best nature sightings, so the chances of encountering pods of playing Bottle Nose Dolphins are very high. You’ll also be taken to the habitat of New Zealand Fur Seals and Australian Sea Lions, where you’ll be able to witness them sunbathing on the rocks.

    The wildlife isn’t restricted to the water, keep an eye out above for the varying varieties of sea birds, including the unforgettable mighty Sea Eagles, Osprey and Wedge Tailed Eagles, which fly overhead.

    Seal Bay has been the home to an Australian Sea Lion population for potentially thousands of years, but it was the sudden increase in visitors during the 1970s that prompted the South Australian Government to declare the area a conservation park, in order to protect the fragile ecosystem found here. Seal Bay Conservation Park offers one of the rarest and most exceptional nature-based experiences in the world.

    After learning about these enchanting animals, you’ll be able to take a leisurely walk along the scenic boardwalk, which leads through limestone cliffs and dunes, to viewing platforms where the huge colony of sea lions can be seen. Your experienced guide will provide a unique insight into how these endangered sea lion fish, surf, rest, interact with their pups and defend their territory. The highlight of your tour will be to take the steps down to the beach for an up close and personal experience and you’ll be standing just metres away from the colony. Have your camera at the ready for some memorable shots of these wonderful creatures.

    Seal Bay has been the home to an Australian Sea Lion population for what is believed to be thousands of years. The area is a designated conservation area and the Seal Bay boardwalk offers a wonderful chance to view the Sea lions in their natural habitat.

    Your tour will take you on a leisurely walk along the scenic boardwalk, which leads through limestone cliffs and dunes, to viewing platforms where the huge colony of sea lions can be seen. Have your camera at the ready for some memorable shots of them in the distance lazing on the beach or playing in the surf.

    Afterwards, you’ll drive to Pennington Bay, where you can enjoy the panoramic outlook over Pennington Beach. There will also be an opportunity to browse the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus shop, before returning to the pier.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Please note that the roads in Kangaroo Island can be quite bumpy and sections are dirt road ways only. The boardwalk is around 700 metres in length and relatively flat, to derive full enjoyment some walking is required. Guests must be able to negotiate steps on to and off the coach.
