  • Cairo & The Pyramids

    Join an English-speaking Egyptologist in a full day tour to the stunning Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, the Pyramids and Sphinx.

    Leaving Sokhna by air-conditioned coach; make your way along the desert road non-stop to Cairo. Driving through the metropolis of Cairo, marvel at this crowded and bustling city and the first stop of the day is right in the heart of the city at Liberty Square. Take a tour of the world’s most important collection of Egyptian antiquities in the National Museum. The treasures of the well-known Tutankhamen collection, including his solid gold mask, are a highlight of this popular Cairo museum.

    Enjoy luncheon at a leading Cairo hotel and then continue to the Giza Plateau, where you will be able to see the only remaining wonder of the ancient world, The Great Pyramid of Cheops. You will be given time to explore the pyramids to truly appreciate their size and amazing construction and enjoy panoramic views from the western plateau. Continue down the valley, from where you may gaze upon The Sphinx, carved from solid rock and thought to be a monument to Pharaoh Chephren.

    Round the day off with a visit to a Papyrus Institute, where you will discover the art of making paper from reeds discovered by the ancient Egyptians.

    El Ain El Sokhna is both a summer and winter destination resort. It is a natural lime spring with an average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Situated at the base of Ataka Mountains it is close to the Gulf of Suez with a beach famous for its clean sand and crystal clear waters.

    After a short drive to a leading deluxe resort situated on the beach you can spend the day relaxing around the pool or down on the sandy beach.

    Escape from the sun and enjoy a delicious buffet luncheon in one of the resort restaurants.


    ACTIVITY EXCURSIONS
    You and all those in your party should be aware that, in undertaking activity excursions, you will be involved in a degree of physical exertion and/or activity such as hiking, biking, snorkelling, kayaking, diving etc. By booking the excursion you confirm that you and all those in your party are in good physical and mental condition, with no history of conditions such as seizures, dizziness, fainting, heart condition, respiratory problems or back/neck problems (by way of example only). You should also ensure that no one in your party is taking medicine that carries a warning about impairment of physical or mental abilities. If you are pregnant this type of excursion may not be appropriate for you. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit and well enough to take part in the activities booked and you are reminded to take care for your own safety. Because of the risks associated with activity excursions, you may be asked by the excursion provider to sign a document which may affect or limit the excursion provider’s liability. Comfortable flat walking shoes are recommended.

    BEACH/WATER RELATED EXCURSIONS
    For any excursion involving water, guests are reminded to exercise particular care. Alcohol and eating a full meal should be avoided before swimming. If buoyancy aids are provided for an activity they must be worn at all times. You should bear in mind that the sea is unpredictable. Lifeguards are unlikely to be present and there may not be a flag system to indicate whether or not it is safe to go in the water. In addition, beach activities may not be supervised or accompanied and so you should take care to satisfy yourself as to the safety of the beach and/or the sea at the time of your excursion. Please exercise caution when entering the sea as the seabed and aquatic environment is capable of springing surprises and we have not inspected the beach or seabed for its safety. Children must be supervised by you at all times near water. All activities on the beach, water and in the sea are undertaken at your own risk. You’ll need to take swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and flat shoes that can be worn in the water.

    SCUBA DIVING
    All guests wishing to participate in a certified dive tour must hold a PADI open water scuba certification or BSAC Ocean Diver certification. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate divers with either a PADI Junior Open Water or a PADI Scuba Dive rating due to the depth limitations imposed by these qualifications. In line with the recommendations by the sports-diving industry, we strongly recommend that divers undertake a refresher course if they have not been diving within the last six months. You must be aged 15 or over, carry your dive certification card with you and we recommend that you carry your diving log or proof that you’ve recently completed a refresher course. If you are a certified diver, but are unable to meet our requirements we recommend taking the Discover Scuba excursion as an alternative.

    LIABILITY
    Cunard will arrange for the excursions to be performed by the relevant excursion provider. Cunard does not provide or supply the excursion services. Cunard will exercise reasonable care and skill in the selection of the excursion provider, but will not in any circumstances have a greater liability than the excursion supplier and Cunard shall not be responsible for the negligent acts/omissions of the excursion supplier. Please note that in relation to all excursions Cunard is not responsible or liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by you unless such loss, damage or injury arises out of a breach of legal duty of Cunard.

    TRAVEL INSURANCE
    Before booking any activity excursions it is essential that you ensure your travel insurance extends to cover the specified activity. It is your responsibility to obtain adequate insurance.

    This tour will operate by coach and on foot. One glass of wine, local beer or soft drink will be served with luncheon. There are independent suppliers on the beach that may offer water sports. These are provided by parties unconnected to Cunard. Sun beds, umbrellas, changing room facilities and towels are included (subject to space availability around the pool). Please remember to take swimwear, a hat and sun block.

  • City Stars Mega Mall Transfer

    If you do not wish to visit Cairo and the Pyramids or stay on the ship, then hit the shops at the modern City Stars Mega Mall.

    City Stars Mega Mall Transfer

    This coach transfer will take you to the City Stars Mega Mall where you will have free time to browse the many outlets including over 600 brand named stores, indoor theme park, cinema, specialised bazaars. Test your bartering skills in one of the many gold stores. Luncheon will be on your own to allow maximum flexibility and choice from the many food venues. There is also currency exchanges in the banks and ATM facilities within the complex.

    The transfer time to the complex is approximately two hours each way and the amount of walking on this tour is at your own discretion. Please take care to note the pickup time and location.

    Leaving Sokhna, travel through expanses of desert sands to the metropolis of Cairo on your way to Egypt’s first capital, Memphis, with its ancient cemetery of Sakkara. Here, the world’s first monumental stone building, the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, built almost 5,000 years ago still stands. After visiting the complex, continue to one of the Mastabas (funerary chambers) built nearby. Returning to Cairo, you can relax and enjoy a sumptuous luncheon at a leading five star hotel. In the afternoon, marvel at the Giza Plateau where the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramids of Giza still stand. A unique view of the three Pyramids from the Western Plateau affords great opportunities for photographs. Having enjoyed the view from this vantage point, your coach will bring you close to the Pyramid of Chephren, where you will have time to explore the site on your own. Continue down the valley to visit the guardian of this mortuary complex, the mysterious Sphinx, watching the passage of time. Final stop at the Papyrus Institute will introduce you to the process of paper making from reeds, an art discovered by the Ancient Egyptians. You will have a short time to purchase local handicrafts and papyrus from a selected bazaar.

Downtown at the banks of the River Nile a luxurious cruise boat awaits to sail you on the same timeless waterway traversed by Pharaohs, Queens and Nobles thousands of years ago. Sit back, relax and enjoy a cruise as you glide past Cairo’s waterfront landmarks. Refreshments of tea with oriental cookies and cakes will be served during the cruise and for your entertainment, a folkloric presentation and belly dancing will take place.

You’ll be driven to an elevated site that provides a magnificent panoramic view of the three largest pyramids.
