    Langkawi Highlights

    Ride on the cable car to enjoy fantastic panoramic views of Langkawi and delight in breathtaking views of the many islands scattered around Langkawi itself and the islands of Thailand. The top station sits on the majestic Machincang Mountain that is said to have been formed some 500 million years ago.

    Continue past scenic paddy fields with groups of buffaloes resting in their muddy ponds. Quaint Malay Kampung (villages) are scattered all over the island, giving you a true insight into the landscapes of Langkawi.

    Visit the Rice Garden, one of Langkawi’s eco-tourism attractions. Here, you can view all aspects of rice cultivation, the oldest industry in Malaysia. Appreciate the rich heritage and chart its history to recent developments while viewing fascinating exhibits at the Museum.

    A stop at the Harbour Park allows you to appreciate the scenery.


    This excursion will operate by bus, cable car and on foot. Please note the cable car ride will operate subject to weather conditions. In the event of the cable car not running, it will be replaced by a visit to Underwater World Aquarium. There is approximately 1¾ hours of walking during this tour including uneven steps at the Rice Garden and steps at the Cable Car. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended. Chilled bottled water is provided during the tour. Guests suffering from Acrophobia or Altophobia are not encouraged to take the cable car. Queues can be expected for the cable car and the actual ride is 15 minutes each way. Any guests disembarking at the midway station will have to queue again to re-board.

  • Geopark Nature Experience

    Get close to nature with this adventure through the natural world and mangrove swamps of Langkawi.

    Geopark Nature Experience

    After an hour-long transfer to Port Kilim, board your boat and glide into the mangrove forest to start your adventure. Visit a Fish Farm where you can walk along the platforms to see a variety of marine life separated by nets in the sea, including Moray eels, Horse Shoe Crabs, Mantis Prawns and Sting Rays.

    Enjoy a moment of eagle spotting as you watch the airborne predators hover over the mangrove trees, and swoop to catch their prey. The eagle population in Kilim has grown from an estimated 15 pairs to over 400 in 30 years.

    At the Bat Cave, witness hundreds of bats clinging upside down from the ceiling. The cave was formed millions of years ago and you can marvel at the formation of stalagmites and stalactites inside. Take a walk on the wooden boardwalk which runs right through the 196 foot-long cave.


    This excursion will operate by bus, boat and on foot. There is approximately 30 minutes of walking during this tour including uneven paths at the Bat Cave and Fish Farm. Paths can be slippery and involve climbing some steps. Comfortable non-slip shoes, a hat, sun protection and insect repellent are recommended. You may wish to bring a pair of binoculars and a flashlight. The order of highlights may vary. There is no toilet on the boat, but there are facilities at Kilim Jetty.

  • Handicrafts And Underwater World

    Explore Langkawi’s Cultural Craft Complex, combined with a visit to Underwater World.

    Handicrafts And Underwater World

    The Langkawi Cultural Craft Complex is dedicated to Malaysia’s cultural heritage and showcases a variety of Malaysian handicrafts. It is a great place to browse and shop for local hand-made authentic items which include ceramics, colourful batik clothing and costume jewellery. The modern complex also houses several workshops and a heritage museum to explore.

    A short photograph stop at Eagle’s Square will show you the monumental sculpture embracing the seafront of Kuah. This huge monument costing over two million Ringgit is a tribute to this island, which is named after the Brown Eagle.

    Continue to Underwater World, showcasing colourful marine life and over 5000 tropical fish that are held in more than 100 specially designed tanks. The most impressive and unique interior architectural concept of this magnificent aquarium is the gigantic hexagon tank and walk through tunnel tank. View the shoals of exotic fish and see sharks, turtles, and stingrays to name but a few. The sub-Antarctic ecosystem display includes a spectacular penguinarium with an underwater tunnel for visitors to view swimming penguins.


    This excursion will operate by bus and on foot.This tour requires around 1-1½ hours of walking over mostly flat surfaces, the majority of which is at guests’ discretion. The time spent at the Craft Complex and Underwater World is at guests’ leisure. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended. Refreshments are not included in this tour, however there will be an opportunity to purchase them if required, at Underwater World. Malaysian Ringgits are required for purchases, major credit cards are also accepted.

    Experience the living colours of one of Malaysia's marine parks.

    Island Escapade

    The pristine waters of Payar Island display one of the region’s most spectacular coral gardens. Board a boat at Porto Malai Jetty and cruise to the island. Despite its size, this un-inhabited island has everything that a nature lover seeks, including secluded white beaches, unspoiled coral reef and a vast array of magnificent marine life.

    On arrival, your boat will anchor off the coast. The more adventurous can snorkel from the boat and discover the fabulous corals, abundant tropical reef and rainbow-hued fishes. Alternatively, you may wish to swim to the shore or non swimmers can be transported to the island by means of a smaller boat to enjoy the beach. The rest of the day is at your leisure to laze at the beach on this perfect island getaway.


    ACTIVITY EXCURSIONS
    You and all those in your party should be aware that, in undertaking activity excursions, you will be involved in a degree of physical exertion and/or activity such as hiking, biking, snorkelling, kayaking, diving etc. By booking the excursion you confirm that you and all those in your party are in good physical and mental condition, with no history of conditions such as seizures, dizziness, fainting, heart condition, respiratory problems or back/neck problems (by way of example only).     For any excursion involving water, guests are reminded to exercise particular care. Alcohol and eating a full meal should be avoided before swimming. If buoyancy aids are provided for an activity they must be worn at all times. You should bear in mind that the sea is unpredictable. Lifeguards are unlikely to be present and there may not be a flag system to indicate whether or not it is safe to go in the water. In addition, beach activities may not be supervised or accompanied and so you should take care to satisfy yourself as to the safety of the beach and/or the sea at the time of your excursion. Please exercise caution when entering the sea as the seabed and aquatic environment is capable of springing surprises and we have not inspected the beach or seabed for its safety. Children must be supervised by you at all times near water. All activities on the beach, water and in the sea are undertaken at your own risk. You’ll need to take swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and flat shoes that can be worn in the water.

    This excursion will operate by boat and on foot.The operation of this tour is subject to local weather conditions. Guests may get feet wet when disembarking the smaller boat to reach the beach. Guests are reminded to wear swimwear, take a towel and sunscreen. Snorkelling equipment is provided. As there is no suitable restaurant on the island, a boxed lunch is included for you to eat at your leisure. There are minimal facilities on the island and there may be independent suppliers on the beach that may offer watersports. These are provided by parties unconnected to Cunard.

    Relax with a spot of swimming or sunbathing at two of the islands surrounding Langkawi.

    Altogether, there are 99 islands scattered around the main island Langkawi. Get away from it all and board your boat for a cruise to two of these islands.

    Stop off at Pregnant Maiden Island where a large fresh water lake nestles in the centre. This lake is a fascinating geological feature, separated from the sea by a border of natural rock and limestone, and surrounded by ancient rainforest. According to legend, any childless woman who drinks from it will be able to conceive. A climb up some steep steps (820 feet high) will bring you to the beautiful lake where you can enjoy a swim or simply admire the serene scenery around you.

    Enjoy further rest and relaxation at Pulau Beras Basah, literally translated as Wet Rice Island. The island is blessed with stunning white sandy beaches set below lush rainforest and looming mountains. Sit back and relax or take a swim, but look out for the monkeys on the beach.

There is a small stall selling soft drinks on Pregnant Maiden Island and a charge to use the public toilets. There are no facilities at Wet Rice Island. There may be independent suppliers on the beach that may offer water sports. These are provided by parties unconnected to Cunard.

    Visit a functioning rubber estate where you will have a close-up view of the art of rubber tapping. Observe a demonstration showing how a skillful cut can make the rubber tree bleed latex.

    The Mausoleum of the Martyred Princess immortalises the legend of Mashuri, the tragic story of a young maid who lived on the island. When her husband was called to the army, she was wrongly accused of adultery by a jealous wife, and was sentenced to death. Stabbed with a sacred sword, she is said to have bled white blood, proof of her innocence that alas came too late. With her dying breath, she cursed the island, proclaiming "...Langkawi shall not prosper for seven generations to come."

    After a stop at Eagle’s Park, a monumental sculpture embracing the seafront of Kuah, enjoy some free time at the Handicraft Studio. Take the opportunity to shop for some souvenirs of Langkawi such as baskets, Batik paintings, pottery, pewter products and more.


    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. There is approximately 30 minutes of walking during this tour. Please note there are narrow and uneven steps at the Mausoleum and steep, uneven steps at the rubber estate. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended. The order of visits may vary. It is necessary to cross a main road to reach the Handicraft Studio, during which care should be taken.
