St Georges, Granada - Caribbean Cruises

There’s no need to guess how the Spice Island came by its nickname, you’ll sent it on the breeze. Here, more spices are grown per square mile than anywhere else on earth – so browse markets heaped in cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Or feast your eyes on the port of St. Georges: where a pink Anglican church clings to emerald slopes around a deep azure bay.

  • Rhum Runner

On this fun tour, enjoy the sea breeze and some time at the beach followed by music and dancing on board the Rhum Runner.

    Rhum Runner

Aboard the fun Rhum Runner, you will be able to enjoy unlimited rum punch or soda and dance to the sounds of a live steel band. The Rhum Runner loops around the inner harbour, and along the scenic coastline to Long Point Shoal. On board there is a glass-bottomed window for you to view the underwater coral, sponges and tropical fish. Alternatively, you may like to just soak up the Caribbean sunshine and cooling breeze as you cruise along the coast.

The boat will stop in the clear, blue waters off the white sand beach of Morne Rouge. You will have over an hour here to laze in the sun or take to the inviting waters.

Leaving the beach on the return trip to St George's, the crew introduces ‘Rhum Runner limbo dancing. Try your luck at the pole for a chance to win rum punch and t-shirts, or simply relax with a drink and enjoy the live music and calypso atmosphere.

  • Mrs Renwick's Garden

A unique opportunity to visit the private garden of a beautiful house, introduced to you by the proud owner.

    Mrs Renwick's Garden

Located approximately 600 feet above sea level, with views of the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts, Sunnyside Gardens are the pride of Mrs Jean Renwick. The gardens are both classical and colonial. The rolling hills of the garden contain 150-year-old Mahogany trees and a variety of palms and exotic fruit trees.

Inspired by an architect from Norway, who believed that plants should be allowed to grow where they plant themselves, Mrs Renwick used Zoysia Grass from Japan, Agave and Silver Mangrove.

Enjoy the ‘rainforest’ area, and a fishpond with exotic lilies and Koi Carp. Extensive use has been made of palms including the Bottle Palm. Clumps of Cycads and Bougainvillaea complete the picture of this unique and private garden.

At the end of your tour, rum punch or a local fruit juice will be provided on the veranda of the house.

This excursion will operate by minibus and on foot. There are some gentle slopes to be negotiated and some steeper slopes within the rainforest section of the garden. The ground is uneven in parts. There are steps and nutmeg shell-covered pathways in and around the gardens. Comfortable non-slip shoes are recommended.

    Grenada & Grand Anse Beach

Take in the sights and scenery as you travel through St George’s winding streets past the ruined residence of the Governor General. From St George’s you will continue over the Morne Jaloux Ridge towards a network of old forts.

Situated on a ridge, Fort Frederick sits at 800 feet above sea level. This ancient fort offers wonderful, panoramic views. Fort Matthew, Fort Lucas and Fort Adolphus adjoin Fort Frederick and are connected by an intricate network of underground tunnels. Whilst here, your guide will recount the fascinating history of Grenada’s forts.

The highlight of your tour will be the visit to Grenada’s favourite beach - Grand Anse. Enjoy the magnificent three mile stretch of white sand, fringed with palm trees. You will have approximately one hour to swim or relax on the beach and soak up the sun.

Lifeguards are unlikely to be present and there may not be a flag system to indicate whether or not it is safe to go in the water. In addition, beach activities may not be supervised or accompanied and so you should take care to satisfy yourself as to the safety of the beach and/or the sea at the time of your excursion. Please exercise caution when entering the sea as the seabed and aquatic environment is capable of springing surprises and we have not inspected the beach or seabed for its safety. Children must be supervised by you at all times near water. All activities on the beach, water and in the sea are undertaken at your own risk. You’ll need to take swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and flat shoes that can be worn in the water.
