Torshavn, Faroe Islands - Norway, Fjords & Baltic Cruises

There are few smaller capital cities in the world than Torshavn, whose name - literally 'Thor's harbour' - suggests its Viking heritage. It has plenty of character, especially the colourfully painted wooden houses of the old town with turfed roofs, and their modern counterpart - the Norse House constructed from gleaming glass with a grassy top.

    Scenic Faroes & Pancakes

Embark on a scenic northerly drive, passing idyllic villages and the old whaling station at Áir, before crossing ‘the only bridge over the Atlantic’ to Eysturoy – the 2nd largest island in the Faroes. Pass the village of Eiði and look out for the two distinctive rock formations rising from the sea, the Giant and the Hag, before continuing past Slættaratindur, the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, to the village of Gjógv.

After your refreshments, you’ll have the chance to sit back and relax in the warm, or wander through the pretty little fishing village to admire the gorge.

This excursion will operate by coach. Most of the sights are seen from the comfort of the coach. There will be around 45 minutes of free time to explore Gjógv at your own leisure, therefore the amount of walking is at your discretion.
