    Leisurely Brisbane

Brisbane has the look of a city that has recently grown-up. Much of the old and unsightly has been bulldozed and replaced with glittering glass and concrete towers, hotels and paved shopping malls.

On this leisurely drive around the cosmopolitan and lively City of Brisbane, you will have the opportunity to see many sights including the historical buildings of Parliament House, the Treasury Building, Customs House and the City Hall.

Continuing on to Mount Coot-tha look-out, you will be able to enjoy an unequalled panoramic view over the city’s modern, sleek skyscrapers and picturesque suburb. On a clear day you can see as far as the Glass House Mountains to the North, the Gold Coast Hinterland to the South and Moreton and Stradbroke Islands to the East.

Your journey will take you past South Bank Parklands, a 42-acre sub-tropical park built on the site of the 1988 World Expo, to Kangaroo Point Cliffs. A brief stop here will provide a vista of the city skyline with the meandering Brisbane River below.

The unusual blend of historic buildings, modern architecture and lush inner city parks make this a city not to be missed.

This excursion will operate by coach. All sightseeing is conducted from the comfort of your coach with photography stops along the way.

Sunlander & Reef Overland - Double

DAY 1 – SUNLANDER TRAIN, BRISBANE
From the Caboolture Station in Brisbane, you’ll step aboard the Sunlander Train. Experience the joy of travelling along the coastline amidst the stunning scenery of Queensland on board the region’s signature train – The Sunlander. You will be travelling Queenslander Class which will leave you with unforgettable memories. Your private cabin contains a two-seater lounge which converts to twin bunk style beds by night. Each cabin has a wash basin while showers and restrooms are located at the end of the sleeping car. This experience offers a glimpse into the state’s heritage, culture and landscape through the in-cabin commentary service. Should you prefer a more social atmosphere, the Lounge Car, dedicated to this exclusive class of travel, is also available for you to enjoy. Luncheon and dinner will be served in the exclusive Queenslander restaurant car which offers fine dining prepared by speciality chefs using the freshest local produce. The 1690 kilometre journey traverses through a diverse range of picturesque countryside. Marvel as the scenes change before your eyes from Brisbane’s outlying suburbs to vast rural settings, distant mountains and huge cane sugar plantations. The further north you travel the more tropical the scenery becomes, turning into green pastures and lush rainforests.

    DAY 2 – SUNLANDER TRAIN & CAIRNS
Enjoy breakfast in the comfort of the dining car before arriving into Townsville for a short stop. As the train resumes its journey, the tropical North Queensland scenery unfolds outside your window. Enjoy luncheon aboard the train as you pass by Tully and Innisfail in the Atherton Tablelands. Arrive into Cairns in the late afternoon where you will disembark the train. You’ll be met by your local guide and transferred to the Hilton Hotel in Cairns. Enjoy a brief amount of time to refresh before your evening activity. In the early evening, journey to Tjapukai, an Aboriginal Cultural Centre to experience the powerful spirit of indigenous Australia as you embark on an evening of ancient Tjapukai. Enjoy an engaging lakeside ceremony before a buffet dinner is served.

DAY 3 – GREAT BARRIER REEF
Following breakfast in the hotel, you’ll discover the wonders of The Great Barrier Reef on a full day excursion. A brief ten minute walk brings you to the quayside where you’ll board a high-speed catamaran. In just 90 minutes, you’ll arrive at a purpose-built offshore reef pontoon on the Great Barrier outer Reef. The Reef is rich with coral, fish, molluscs and visiting sharks, dolphins and turtles. A presentation by a marine naturalist on board will prepare you for the exquisitely beautiful underwater world that lies ahead. Take in the underwater views from the pontoon’s viewing chamber or take the semi-submersible or glass-bottom boat tour for matchless panoramas of colourful tropical fish and intricate coral gardens. Inviting aquamarine waters provide a tempting attraction for those wishing to swim with a mask and snorkel.

Enjoy a tropical buffet luncheon, served in air-conditioned comfort, then return to the water to swim or snorkel, or just lie back and relax on the sundeck. After spending a breathtaking few hours out at the pontoon, re board your catamaran for the trip back to the pier. ACTIVITY EXCURSIONS
You and all those in your party should be aware that, in undertaking activity excursions, you will be involved in a degree of physical exertion and/or activity such as hiking, biking, snorkelling, kayaking, diving etc. By booking the excursion you confirm that you and all those in your party are in good physical and mental condition, with no history of conditions such as seizures, dizziness, fainting, heart condition, respiratory problems or back/neck problems (by way of example only). You should also ensure that no one in your party is taking medicine that carries a warning about impairment of physical or mental abilities. If you are pregnant this type of excursion may not be appropriate for you. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit and well enough to take part in the activities booked and you are reminded to take care for your own safety. Because of the risks associated with activity excursions, you may be asked by the excursion provider to sign a document which may affect or limit the excursion provider’s liability. Comfortable flat walking shoes are recommended.

    BEACH/WATER RELATED EXCURSIONS
For any excursion involving water, guests are reminded to exercise particular care. Alcohol and eating a full meal should be avoided before swimming. If buoyancy aids are provided for an activity they must be worn at all times. You should bear in mind that the sea is unpredictable. Lifeguards are unlikely to be present and there may not be a flag system to indicate whether or not it is safe to go in the water. In addition, beach activities may not be supervised or accompanied and so you should take care to satisfy yourself as to the safety of the beach and/or the sea at the time of your excursion. Please exercise caution when entering the sea as the seabed and aquatic environment is capable of springing surprises and we have not inspected the beach or seabed for its safety. Children must be supervised by you at all times near water. All activities on the beach, water and in the sea are undertaken at your own risk. You’ll need to take swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and flat shoes that can be worn in the water.

    SCUBA DIVING
All guests wishing to participate in a certified dive tour must hold a PADI open water scuba certification or BSAC Ocean Diver certification. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate divers with either a PADI Junior Open Water or a PADI Scuba Dive rating due to the depth limitations imposed by these qualifications. In line with the recommendations by the sports-diving industry, we strongly recommend that divers undertake a refresher course if they have not been diving within the last six months. You must be aged 15 or over, carry your dive certification card with you and we recommend that you carry your diving log or proof that you’ve recently completed a refresher course. If you are a certified diver, but are unable to meet our requirements we recommend taking the Discover Scuba excursion as an alternative.

For Discover Scuba courses you don’t need any scuba experience but you must be 13 or over and be able to swim. You’ll also need to complete a medical/liability consent form before you go - but if you suffer from asthma, diabetes, heart problems or other medical conditions you won’t be able to take part. Please visit www.padi.com/padi/en/sd/whatsrequired.aspx for more information.
