    Take a scenic 40 minute seaplane flight for a bird’s-eye view of the extensive new developments in the mega-polis of Dubai. See highlights such as the iconic Burj Al Arab, as well as Palm Jumeirah, one of the three largest man-made islands in the world and self-declared as the '8th Wonder of the World'.

    Take the opportunity to grasp the full symbolism of another astonishing project, a cluster of islands reclaimed along Dubai’s coast, collectively known as ‘The World’ islands. Fly over Dubai Marina, the world’s largest man-made marina, then photograph Burj Khalifa, which at 2600 feet is presently the tallest structure in the world. Fly over the scenic Jumeirah Beach and the bustling Sheikh Zayed Road, and then return to port.

    This tour will operate by car or minivan. The seaplane flight will take off from the Creek Side dock which is around a 30 minute drive from the cruise terminal. The running of this tour is subject to weather conditions. Seat belts must be kept fastened at all times during the flight. All current cabin baggage rules and restrictions that apply for commercial flights also apply for this tour. Guests are required to carry clear passport copies on this tour due to security requirements of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.

    Sit back and relax, on a short drive to the city wharf along the bank of Dubai Creek. Have your camera ready for a brief photo stop to admire the creek, which separates Dubai into Deira and Bu Dubai.

    Then it’s time to board the beautifully restored, teak Arabian dhow, the ‘Rustar’, reputedly one of the world’s largest floating restaurants. Sip a refreshing welcome soft drink, as the luxury dhow quietly slips its moorings and glides along the creek. Admire the breathtaking Dubai skyline, whilst passing artfully illuminated heritage buildings, banks and modern-day palaces.

    Whilst sampling a wide array of delicious dishes from the buffet, tap your feet to the beat of the live entertainment. Enjoy a medley of international songs, followed by the dance of the Whirling Dervishes and a traditional Yowalah dance’.

    Finally, after dinner why not take a leisurely stroll upon the upper deck and take in the balmy evening air.

    This excursion will operate by coach and dhow boat. There are approximately four steps to board the dhow and 10 steep steps inside the dhow from the lower deck to reach the upper deck.     Drive along the picturesque Jumeirah area, making a photograph stop at the famed Burj Al Arab, the iconic sail-shaped hotel. Continue along to Dubai Marina and the sky scraping condominiums of Jumeirah Beach Residence and see how the desert land has transformed into a vibrant community in a matter of years.

    Continue onto Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai’s new business district, for a look at some of the stunning architectural marvels. Visit the city’s `Mall of Emirates´ where a refreshment stop is made overlooking the slopes of Ski Dubai, the region’s only indoor ski dome offering fresh real snow all year round.

    Reach the downtown Burj Dubai district to visit Burj Khalifa, currently tallest building in the world. Enter the complex and board a high-speed lift which ascends to the observation deck at 10 metres per second. As the doors open on level 124, floor-to-ceiling glass walls provide breath-taking 360-degree views of the city, desert and ocean sprawled beneath.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. There is approximately one hour of walking on this tour over mostly paved surfaces with some inclines and a motorised walkway. Due to the popularity of the Burj Khalifa there may be up to a 45 minute wait to access the 124th Floor Observatory.

    Visit a selection of local eateries and sample your way through a variety of tasty Middle Eastern flavours!

    Setting off from the port, a short drive will take you to your first venue, a local restaurant that offers a delicious helping of Syrian chickpea falafel and cheese manakish, dough topped with thyme and cheese that resembles a miniature pizza. Next, you’ll walk to a local Iraqi restaurant to sample traditional lentil soup. This is often eaten after breaking the fast during Ramadan and is served with fresh sour lemon juice and crunchy bread flakes.

    Continue on foot to your next venue to sample a typical Arabic grill plate, accompanied by Arabic salad and hot Arabic khubz bread. You can also try maskouf, a grilled fish that originates from the sweet water rivers of Iraq, and the Yemeni dish Mandhi, slowly cooked chicken served over aromatic rice.

    To round off your tour, you’ll walk to a local pastry shop to sample booza ice cream, prepared with pistachios and rose water, and tasty baklava. A cup of Arabic coffee, with a note of cardamom, will also be served.

    From the port, you’ll drive to the Bastakiya Quarter (Old Town) of Dubai that has stood since the city’s pre-oil days from nearly a century ago. Upon arrival, at the Sheikh Mohamed Centre for Cultural Understanding, you’ll meet your local guide and take a walk through the charming neighbourhood. A visit will be made at the Bastakiya Mosque, where you’ll gain a fascinating insight into the practice of Islamic prayer.

    Your walk will end back at the Cultural Centre, a restored wind tower house, where you’ll be seated on traditional Arabic floor cushions and enjoy Arabic coffee and dates. Afterwards, a delicious buffet luncheon of home cooked Emirati dishes will be on offer. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with your gracious Muslim hosts and discover more about their about their life in the United Arab Emirates, and their faith.

    To round off your cultural encounter, tea will be served and the burning of bakhour (incense) will signify the conclusion of your visit.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Conservative dress is required on this tour. Shoulders and legs must be covered in the mosque and shoes must be removed. It is also advisable for ladies to take a head scarf to wear. The mosque may restrict entrance and close on certain days and an external visit only will be made, on these occasions. Children under the age of six may not participate. This tour involves around one hour of walking which includes some cobblestone surfaces. At the Cultural Centre there are several high steps and thresholds and low narrow door frames. Flat, comfortable walking shoes are essential. It is advisable to take sun protection.

    A chance to see the essential sights and discover some unique shopping opportunities in the souks.

    Sharjah Sights & Souks

    This tour will take you to Sharjah, the ‘Pearl of the Gulf’, where you will see the King Faisal Mosque, one of the largest in the Emirates. A short drive then brings you to the superbly preserved Old Town area where you’ll visit the Sharjah Heritage Museum for an insight into the unique local culture and traditions that are wonderfully celebrated across six galleries. The various artefacts and displays will provide a rare glimpse into the life and times of a bygone era.

    A short stroll will take you to Al Arsah Souk, a quintessentially Arabic marketplace where you will have time to browse before walking to the nearby Iranian Souk. This is an open-air market with rows of shops selling nuts, spices and saffron imported from Iran by traditional dhows (sailing boats). Sharpen your negotiating technique here, before driving to Souk Al Markazi, a treasure trove of carpets, jewellery, handicrafts and much more and where you can practice your well-honed bargaining skills.

Sharjah is a conservative city, so please dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered.     This tour departs in the morning across the desert of Dubai with photographic stops during an exciting dune drive to the first destination, the camel farm.     Free Time at Three Sites

    Dubai, the city of contrast means different things to different people. Hop aboard your coach and discover your own version of this amazing destination at an unhurried pace.

    Admire the modern-day palaces and beautiful homes along the plush Jumeirah Beach as you head for your first stop at the city’s most popular public beach, Jumeirah Beach Residence Beach. Enjoy one hour at leisure to bathe in the warm waters of the Persian Gulf or stroll along the bustling waterfront promenade.

    The spirit of the traditional Arabian souk lives on at Souk Madinat. Visit the souk, and immerse yourself in the sights and scents of the marketplace. Meandering along the avenues, browsing the numerous shops, selling everything from fashion, jewellery, antiques, arts and spices.

    En route to Downtown Dubai, you’ll drive along Sheikh Zayed Road, home to most of Dubai’s skyscrapers including the world’s tallest man-made structure, Burj Khalifa. Again, you’ll have some free time to explore a multitude of shops, bars and restaurants along the Dubai Lake promenade.

    BEACH/WATER RELATED EXCURSIONS
    For any excursion involving water, guests are reminded to exercise particular care. Alcohol and eating a full meal should be avoided before swimming. If buoyancy aids are provided for an activity they must be worn at all times. You should bear in mind that the sea is unpredictable. Lifeguards are unlikely to be present and there may not be a flag system to indicate whether or not it is safe to go in the water.     The bustling Gold and Spice Souk is the perfect place to try your haggling skills, and you’ll find a wealth of exquisite gold jewellery at competitive prices. From here, step aboard a local water taxi (Abra) that takes you across the famous Dubai Creek to the Old Part of Dubai, Al Bastakiya.
    ,br> Next, you’ll drive to Dubai’s latest attraction, ‘The Frame’. The 44 million dollar structure links two 150 metre tall towers by a 93 metre wide observation deck to form a huge picture frame building. The concept takes visitors on a journey through time. Starting on the mezzanine level visitors experience Old Dubai and the evolution of the city from a fishing village to the metropolis it is today. The sky deck offers 360 degree views representing the present Dubai where a glass floor, 48 floors above the ground waits for the brave. Visitors exit onto the mezzanine floor and pass through a swirl tunnel creating an illusion of time travel arriving into the city 50 years into the future.

    After your experience at ‘The Frame’, admire more of the city as you take the return drive to the port.

    Dubai Miracle Gardens & Mall of Emirates

    The ‘Dubai Miracle Garden’ is a 17 acre site of landscaped designs filled with an array of colourful blooming flowers. The traditional flowerbeds are in various shapes and patterns and there are also topiary-style displays that take the shape of stars, hearts, igloos, pyramids and many more. The garden has gained world recognition by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest vertical garden. Admire the bright colours against the lush green as you take a leisurely stroll amongst the displays.

    Afterwards, you’ll head to the Mall of the Emirates to enjoy some free time. You may choose to shop for some souvenirs or perhaps purchase a drink or snack. The mall is also home to ‘Ski Dubai’, the region’s only indoor ski dome offering fresh real snow all year round and is worth a view.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. This tour involves around one hour of walking over relatively flat terrain at the Miracle Garden. Walking is at the discretion of the guest at the Mall of Emirates. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended.
