    Leisurely Nha Trang

Travel down town, past the beach front, towards Nha Trang Airport, to enjoy a photograph stop at the grey stone city cathedral. Built between 1928 and 1933 in French Gothic style, the cathedral has quirky Vietnamese touches that make the building unique. From here, you’ll have views of most of the city, the beach and your ship.

At Dam Market, you’ll have the opportunity to briefly browse for souvenirs before continuing your drive. A photograph stop will be made at the Tran Phu Bridge, which offers pleasant views of the colourful fishing boats and of Ponagar Towers perched on the hill.

A visit will be made to the embroidery workshop, where you’ll see the detailed process from start to finish. Enjoy a cup of green tea in this calming and peaceful environment.

This excursion will operate by coach. This is a mainly scenic tour with very limited walking; however guests must be able to negotiate steps onto and off the coach. For maximum enjoyment some walking is required at the embroidery workshop and at Tran Phu Bridge.

  • Life on the River Cai

Enjoy a leisurely cruise along the River Cai for views of the countryside and a glimpse into the lives of the locals.

    Life on the River Cai

You’ll drive along the coast, decorated by coconut trees, passing the statue of Tran Hung Dao, a Vietnamese hero. Visit the Po Nagar Cham Tower located on the hill next to the Cai River. The towers here are dedicated to the Divine Lady, the Mother of the Country, and were built in the 8th century.

A local boat takes you on a ride along the Cai River to Vinh Thai Island, where you can see traditional farmers at work planting their vegetable crops. Come ashore at a local village where a family run workshop produces clay ovens used by the people of Khanh Hoa Province. Afterwards, re-board the boat and continue to a local farmer’s homestead, where you’ll stop to explore his home and garden and sample refreshing tropical fruit.

Your tour will round off with the boat ride back to the shore for the return drive to the ship.

This excursion will operate by coach, boat and on foot. There are approximately 100 steps to reach the Cham Tower (optional). Some roads are unpaved and may be dusty or muddy depending on rainfall. Shoes must be removed before entering the main tower of the Po Nagar complex. There is approximately two hours of walking during this tour. Early booking is recommended due to limited capacity.

  • Villages & Countryside

This tour offers a wonderful insight into the daily lives of the Vietnamese people.

    Villages & Countryside

Just a few miles from Nha Trang, you will find yourself in the picturesque countryside, dotted with palm trees and fruit orchards. En route, you’ll see locals going about their daily lives, neat rice paddies and perhaps the occasional sighting of a grazing water buffalo. The villages here are post-war, although some ‘ancient’ buildings still remain. Today, life goes on much as it did before the war and you’ll see farmers utilising the same methods practiced by their ancestors.

Pay a visit to the Loc Tho Pagoda which is a local charity school, and see how the children are raised and educated. (You may wish to take along some small gifts, such as pens and pencils).

Afterwards, visit a typical Vietnamese country house, handed down from generation to generation. You’ll then head to the Vinh Thai Village to enter a communal house where the locals worship their village gods and first ancestors. Enjoy a coconut drink and seasonal fruits at a local coffee shop, before making a final stop at an embroidery art workshop to view the process from start to finish.

This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Some roads may be unpaved, dusty or muddy depending on rainfall. This tour involves approximately two hours of walking, some of which is over rough ground.
