  • South Island

    A wonderful introduction to Phuket Island, including a short stop at the ‘must-see’ sight of Chalong Temple.

    A scenic drive takes you to the southern tip of Phuket Island, Promthep Cape. From this rocky headland that stretches into the sea, you’ll be treated to wonderful panoramic views.

    Your tour continues to Wat Chalong, the largest, most important and ornate of the 29 temples in Phuket. The architecture is typical of ‘wats’ throughout Thailand. This particular monastery is associated with three revered monks who were famous for their work in herbal medicines.

    Afterwards, a stop will be made at one of the island’s most famous viewpoints, Rang Hill. Have your camera at the ready to capture stunning views of the town and neighbouring islands.

    Complete your tour in Phuket Town, where a panoramic drive will take you past Chinese and Thai temples as well as the old Sino-Portuguese buildings, which have been beautifully preserved. Before returning to the ship, a shopping stop will be made at a reputable local store, where you’ll find a selection of high quality jewellery and precious stones, as well as souvenirs and handicrafts.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Guests are advised that shoulders and legs should be covered and shoes must be removed when entering the temple. Wat Chalong consists of several temples and chapels situated in a small area. There is some uneven ground to negotiate and several steps up to the entrance of each of the religious buildings. There is some walking and approximately 25 steps involved at Promthep Cape. Cool, cotton clothing and a hat are recommended.

  • Beach Resort Retreat

    Escape to a leading hotel resort for relaxation by the pool, followed by luncheon.

    Beach Resort Retreat

    Sit back and relax as a journey of around 30-40 minutes takes you to the Centara Grand Beach Resort Hotel. Idyllically situated on the sands of Karon Beach, this hotel is the perfect location for a day of relaxation.

    Upon arrival you’ll have approximately 4-4½ hours to spend at your leisure. During your stay, relax on the warm sands or perhaps enjoy a refreshing dip in the hotel pool. A delicious Thai buffet luncheon will be served from noon-2pm, for you to enjoy.

    During your return journey to the ship, a brief shopping stop will be made for the opportunity to purchase souvenirs.

    BEACH/WATER RELATED EXCURSIONS
    For any excursion involving water, guests are reminded to exercise particular care. Alcohol and eating a full meal should be avoided before swimming. If buoyancy aids are provided for an activity they must be worn at all times. You should bear in mind that the sea is unpredictable. Lifeguards are unlikely to be present and there may not be a flag system to indicate whether or not it is safe to go in the water. In addition, beach activities may not be supervised or accompanied and so you should take care to satisfy yourself as to the safety of the beach and/or the sea at the time of your excursion. Please exercise caution when entering the sea as the seabed and aquatic environment is capable of springing surprises and we have not inspected the beach or seabed for its safety. Children must be supervised by you at all times near water. All activities on the beach, water and in the sea are undertaken at your own risk. You’ll need to take swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and flat shoes that can be worn in the water.

    LIABILITY
    Cunard will arrange for the excursions to be performed by the relevant excursion provider. Cunard does not provide or supply the excursion services. Cunard will exercise reasonable care and skill in the selection of the excursion provider, but will not in any circumstances have a greater liability than the excursion supplier and Cunard shall not be responsible for the negligent acts/omissions of the excursion supplier. Please note that in relation to all excursions Cunard is not responsible or liable for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by you unless such loss, damage or injury arises out of a breach of legal duty of Cunard.

    TRAVEL INSURANCE
    Before booking any activity excursions it is essential that you ensure your travel insurance extends to cover the specified activity. It is your responsibility to obtain adequate insurance.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. This tour is non-guided; however an English speaking escort will travel with you on the coach. Although the beach is available for guests to use during their visit, please note that the tide may be low during the afternoon. Guests are reminded to wear swimwear, take a towel and sunscreen. Due to the popularity of the resort, beach chairs and umbrellas cannot be guaranteed for everyone. Please carry local currency if you wish to make purchases during the shopping stop. Please refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages prior to swimming. There may be independent suppliers on the beach that offer water sports, these are provided by parties unconnected to Cunard.

    Visit one of the most enchanting spots on the island, Promthep Cape. From here you can capture wonderful views of the surrounding landscapes and islets.

    Wat Chalong is the largest, most important and ornate of the 29 temples in Phuket. The architecture is typical of ‘wats’ throughout Thailand. This particular monastery is associated with three revered monks who were famous for their work in herbal medicines.

    At the Phuket Thai Village and Orchid Garden you’ll be treated to a delightful Thai performance lasting approximately one hour. The show features many colourful costumes and folkloric dances and offers a glimpse of traditional life and culture of the southern Thai people.

    Round off your day with a shopping stop at a reputable local store, where you’ll find a selection of high quality jewellery and precious stones, as well as souvenirs and handicrafts.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Guests are advised that shoulders and legs should be covered and shoes must be removed when entering the temple. Wat Chalong consists of several temples and shrines situated in a small area. The ground is mainly paved; however there are several steps up to the entrance of each building. There is approximately 1½ hours total walking during this tour including 25 steps at Promthep Cape.

    Visit one of the most famous Chinese temples in Phuket, the Jui Tui Chinese Shrine. Dedicated to the vegetarian god, Kui Wong, the shrine attracts many believers and worshippers during the annual Vegetarian Festival. Marvel at the building’s beautiful architectural style.

    Enjoy a walk through the vibrant and colourful local market and watch the hustle and bustle of the locals, as they shop for their cooking ingredients.

    Baan Chin Pracha dates back to 1904 and is one of the oldest and most beautiful Chinese mansions remaining on the island. The furniture was imported from China, the marble floor from Italy and the lights from England. The owners are the descendents of some of the first settlers from China. During your visit, refreshments of tea or coffee will be served.

    A brief stop will be included for shopping, where you will have the opportunity to buy some souvenir items, handicrafts, Thai silk, porcelain, and semi-precious stones.


    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. There is approximately 1½ hours of walking involved on this tour, including some steps and uneven surfaces at the mansion. Guests are requested to remove their shoes before entering the shrine and the Baan Chin Pracha Mansion.

  • Phuket On Your Own

    The ideal choice for those who would like time to explore on their own.

    Phuket On Your Own

    Phuket Town is best explored on foot and, upon arrival you are free to do as you please. The town offers many tourist facilities, including some great shopping opportunities. There are also elaborate Thai temples, public markets, Chinese shrines and shop houses in the downtown Phuket area.

    This bustling town is the provincial capital of Phuket. Centuries ago, Chinese merchants settled here, and then contact with Portuguese traders led to the development of a particular style of architecture known as Sino Portuguese, which is still visible in the town today.

    You will be dropped off close to the Robinson Department Store, located right in the heart of Phuket Town. This store offers numerous kinds of merchandise. Within the same complex, there are local food shops and, nearby, various local shops selling clothes, CD’s and leather goods.


    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. The Robinson Department Store is open daily from 11am; most other shops in the area are open from 10am. This transfer is exclusive of any entrance fees and you are advised to carry US dollars or Thai Baht with you. The tour fare includes a return, guided transfer from Patong Beach to Phuket Town, approximately 45 minutes drive away.

  • James Bond Island Cruise

    Discover Phang-Nga Bay, the location of ‘James Bond Island’ made famous in the film ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’.

    A scenic journey across the island takes you through lush forests before reaching Phang-Nga Bay, where you will board a local motorised boat for a cruise along the breathtaking waterways.

    Towering limestone stacks rise like pinnacles out of the calm emerald-green waters. Have your camera at the ready as you pass a spectacular high cliff that appears to be split in two, the halves supported by leaning against each other. This sight of rare and exquisite beauty, is Khao Ping Gun, ‘James Bond Island’. Your boat will circumnavigate the island, to allow you to capture the stunning scenery.

    From here, you’ll sail on to Koh Panyi, home to a 150 year-old Thai Muslim fishing village, built on stilts in the sea and connected by wooden bridges. During a leisurely walk through the village you’ll discover how the local people live and you will also have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs at the local stalls before re-boarding your boat.

    A delicious Thai buffet luncheon will be served at a hotel in Phang-Nga Bay prior to your two hour drive back to Patong.

    Round off your day with a shopping stop at a reputable local store, where you’ll find a selection of high quality jewellery and precious stones, as well as souvenirs and handicrafts.

    This excursion will operate by coach, boat and on foot. The coach journey from the pier to Phang-Nga is approximately two hours each way. There are some inclines and uneven ground at Panyi Island. Participants must be able to board the boat by stepping over the side, onto a bench and down into the boat. This tour does not include a stop on James Bond Island; it is a cruise around the island only. There are no opportunities for swimming on this tour.
