  • Langkawi Highlights

See the main sights of this tropical paradise, including views from the peak on a cable car ride and a visit to the Rice Garden Museum.

    Langkawi Highlights

One of the ‘must do’ experiences in Langkawi is to take the cable car to the peak of Machincang Mountain, said to have been formed some 500 million years ago. From the top of the mountain you’ll have a wonderful view of Langkawi, its surrounding islands, and you can even see Thailand.

Back at the base station, you’ll have the opportunity to browse for souvenirs before your tour continues. During a scenic drive you’ll pass paddy fields where groups of buffaloes can be found resting in their muddy ponds. You’ll also pass by quaint Malay Kampung’s (villages) which are scattered all over the island, providing you with a true insight into the landscape of Langkawi.

Enjoy a visit to the Rice Garden Museum, one of Langkawi’s eco-tourism attractions. The museum boasts a wonderful collection of artefacts, photographs, charts and tools on the history of rice cultivation in Langkawi, the oldest industry in Malaysia. During your visit, you’ll learn about this rich heritage and chart its history through to recent developments.

Complete your tour with a photograph stop at Harbour Park, which is a haven for yachts of many sizes.

This excursion will operate by coach, cable car and on foot. There is approximately 1¾ hours of walking on this tour, as well as some steps at the Rice Garden and at the cable car stop. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended. The cable car ride is subject to weather conditions on the day, in the event of the cable car not operating, it will be replaced by a visit to Underwater World Aquarium. Long queues may be experienced at the cable car station, due to the popularity of this attraction. The ride takes approximately 15 minutes each way and is not suitable for those Guests who suffer from vertigo. Guests choosing to disembark at the midway station will be required to queue again to re-board.
